I mean things like Mozart, Beethoven, etc. I really like some of the pieces. What about you? Or you're musically ignorant :P

I actually do enjoy classical. I'm a multi-music kinda man. I feel music is a gift that should be enjoyed it it's fullest extent. On my WinAmp I have 6000+ songs, so I can switch from listening to the heaviest of the heavy metal over to beethovens fifth symphony and not think anything of it.

I'm glad to see other's enjoy classical pieces.

Yes, but i kind of more concentrate on what does the music have, I mean things like concentrating in a certain instrument of feeling the way the music goes. I'll be honest, I mostly listen to rock, hard rock, many types of metal and classical music and some exceptions from time to time. But from all the classical seams to be the most complicated and complete in the part of sound and harmony... No beat or boom

I listen to Vivaldi, Strauss, Offenbach, Ravel, DeBussey, and a few others. It's all very relaxing

*ahem* this being my first post on WBW, i'm a bit nervous. this thread, however, struck a chord for me. i haven't, much to my chagrin, collected gigs of porn of my ex-girlfriends, or amatueur videos that no one has ever seen. i have, however, done quite a bit of musical collecting.

one of my most exquisite, most favorite classical pieces, is this: Faure - Requiem

Gabriel Faure wrote it after both his wife and his mother died in the same year, and if you listen to it, you can hear the overtures of sorrow gradually replaced by the mellow triumph of understanding, all masterfully scored. i have a few more, and would be willing to post some links, or at least trade some of my better symphonies and requiems. not sure if i put my email on my profile, but you can always reach me through my aol IM - captainvervain .

Fuare's Requiem is truly inspiring. When I was younger I was part of the Cathedral Choir so I've grown up with classical music and it's all i listen to. I enjoy Pergolesi, Grieg, Prokofieof, Saint Seans, and out of the major three Beethoven is my favorite.

I happen to enjoy classical; and plan to get back to playing the violin when I get the money to replace my current one.

Bach; Beethoven; Mozart; Tchaikovsky.. All good music. ..along with quite a few other composers that I don't know the names of.

perhaps you're right, sir, and i have no wish for this to degenerate into a flame thread. indeed, this is one of the few threads i've felt moved to respond to. in no means am i questioning your ability of free speech. i do feel, however, that a stupid response to an innocent question, namely: "its for old ladies and queers " deserved an equally stupid response. perhaps it made you feel like an ass. i can't apologize for that in full grace, since i don't think it deserves one. you, as the bible says, reap what you sow. so please, know that i don't hate you, loathe you, or hold any offense to your avatar, but i do ask you, poopinashoe, to please refrain from posting something offensive in a topic you don't have any real interest in.

First thread on WBW, I have a very varied taste in music, I primarily listen to Drum N Bass, which most people despise with a passion. I however love it with a passion . But yes I really like classical, it makes me feel things nothing else can, some peices just send a shiver down my spine. My favourite peice is Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, I just love it. Another good one is Ascension - Nature boy (Moulin Rouge). Unforntunately my knowledge of classical is quite limited, if anyone here likes similar music and would like to trade, please feel free to contact me .

Yes, I do.

I have a lot of Opera's in my collection, all on Cassetes and LP offcourse and some on cd.

I have seen The Ring (Wagner) several times already in Germany. Went to Aida and Lady Butterfly in Italy and saw many more Opera's when I was still living in France.

I like all kinds of music, except House.

I don’t have a huge collection but listen to a varied selection of different musics. I love classical and NOTHING can move you as much or grab you by the nuts as hard as a good classical piece plus if you have not heard Gustav Holst's The Planets then get a copy.... its available on SACD!! but there are other good recordings available on LP too.

Also here is one for the MP3 generation.... get a decent HiFi I don’t mean a £400 JVC and NOT 5.1... think of how much you all spent on you pc's and then double it! When you spend £4000+ The music sounds alive!

Always been a fan of Wagner myself... but like Orff, Saint-Saens, Schubert and Elgar too. As well as Catatonia, Meatloaf, The Specials, Humphrey Lyttleton, The Ink Spots, Paul Robeson, Janis Joplin and Placebo. Eclecticism is the new music....

I just recently realized classical music, but what I enjoy most, so far anyway, is Rachmaninov's piano sinotas. Any other recommendations for solo piano works?
