I don’t have a huge collection but listen to a varied selection of different musics. I love classical and NOTHING can move you as much or grab you by the nuts as hard as a good classical piece plus if you have not heard Gustav Holst's The Planets then get a copy.... its available on SACD!! but there are other good recordings available on LP too.

Got to agree, The Planets Suite is THE bollocks!!! Also, for tunes that you'll recognise try Ride of the Valkyries by Wagner (think of the film Apocolypse Now, the scene with the helicopters going down the river), Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings (from the movie Platoon) and Carmina Burana (an opera track EVERYONE will recognise).

First thread on WBW, I have a very varied taste in music, I primarily listen to Drum N Bass, which most people despise with a passion. I however love it with a passion . But yes I really like classical, it makes me feel things nothing else can, some peices just send a shiver down my spine. My favourite peice is Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, I just love it. Another good one is Ascension - Nature boy (Moulin Rouge). Unforntunately my knowledge of classical is quite limited, if anyone here likes similar music and would like to trade, please feel free to contact me .

Hey, I am a BIG music fan myself. I like these types of music:

CLASSICAL MUSIC (All types).
DANCE MUSIC (Techno, trance, electronica, DRUM & BASS, ambient, bass, house, CLASSIC DISCO & SOME pop).
Rock music (Industrial, metal, punk, soft, rockabilly, 1980's-glam, progressive, classic & oldies).
Country music (Bluegrass, folk, classic & modern country & country pop).
Blues (Traditional, harmonica & zydeco).
Jazz (Traditional, ragtime, acid & smooth).

I have a VERY LARGE library of tastes, don't I? I think that anyone who says that classical music is for wimps, nerds, queers and seniors is not very educated on music at all.

My tastes veer more towards the Baroque than the Classical - Telemann, Bach, Handel, Scarlatti and the like, although I have a real fondness for Chopin, especially the Polonaises.

To be fair, though, my iTunes has about 4,500 individual tracks, and only about 500 of them fit into the categories above.

Thank you for informing me about baroque music. I knew I was going to learn some new stuff!

Yes, indeed. Best musical piece I've heard is the 9th from Beethoven. Right now I'm stuck on Chopin's Noctunres and Etudes (his Wals ar quite joyful). Totally recommended.
