Brothers and sisters,
I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT (3.0L V6). I have alot of money to spend on the car but no car knowledge or sense to begin to modify it. Give me recommendations. I already have a Cold Air Intake and removed the pseudo-grills in the front to allow for more air to enter. I just ordered racing seats because I hate the stock seats, and now I'm at a temporary block. So YOU tell ME what to do with MY money and car. And I'll listen, cause for some odd reason I trust you fuckers.

joke...
and, shadow, i would like to see some parts list and specs on yer engines for these cars. what kinda times did you run with yer eclipse? 2500hp, hmm, in a car thats light. I know what kinda times you should be running. but i would like to see some pics and specs and what ever else.
Deuce, Im with you all the way on this. Im an import fan myself. I drive a 99 honda civic ex coupe (still wishes it was a SI)I have done very few upgrades for it so far but it hard to do anything when you are still paying for the car. I have so far dropped in an AEM CAI, optima spiral cell battery, and a tanabe style exhaust with 2 1/4 pipe from the CAT back. Trust me man Im not knockin you......
Yea, lets quit with the knockin fellas. Clean it up or I'll do it for ya. The guy was just asking about modding his car. Smart ass comments won't help that.
Deuce, best thing to do is figure out your plans for the car. If you're really serious you should start thinking about how far you want to go. Engine wise, body wise, etc. I'm coming from the Honda motor camp too but knew a few guys who were mitsu cats. If you are trying to make big power don't "lego" build your engine. Are you going NA or FI. (Is yours a turbo version? I can't remember eclipse model info right now.) Everyone pretty much starts with bolt ons, so consider that. But let us know your plans and we can all go from there.
2000 and up is third generation, no more stock turbo
phenom: i'm trying to start small for now because i get my degree in may and then an immediate pay raise (to 55k a year from the current 20k YEEHAW) so i'll have some extra cash to throw around...
shadow: 2500HP in a 2g eclipse? i have my doubts...
i've already done the standard things, intake, blahblah, and some interior mods for show, just looking for ideas...let me know
wow, congrats on the degree and pay man, thats friggin awesome! Let's see, I'd consider turbo or maybe supercharging it. Are there SCs for your model year eclipse? Boost 24/7, =) good stuff. Wait..starting small...I noticed someone said something about a cat-back. That's another place to open up the airways. But don't forget a more free flowing cat. Carsound is a reputable company that makes great cats. If you aren't into obnoxiously loud exhausts try taking a look at greddy's SP series. I had one on my integra and its a decent tone. Its a straight through model with a subtle rumble. I'm not sure but I bet the mitsu's stock exhaust is a chambered design. Then a good set of headers could top off your exhaust system.
Another area I'd look at is suspension. Power isn't any good if you can't put it to the ground efficiently. You mentioned rims/tires. What about lowering? If you plan on going pretty low don't forget your shocks. Stock shocks aren't valved for lowering springs' spring rates. I'd suggest Koni's Sport (Yellow) series shocks. They are externally adjustable. So if you autox on the weekends, twist a knob and your in competitive mode. When you leave the track twist them back to soft and you have yourselg a comfortable city driving ride. Maybe upgrade your sway bars and have a little more fun in the twisties! The ideas are endless!
Myself, I'd look for an engine swap. You have very limited number of things you can do right now. Might want to try for a 93' twin turbo eclipse motor, it would be a good swap. Or go with the gsx engine. I'd agree with whoever said to get a new car, mitsubishis are bitches to modify. Honda and Nissan are relatively essay, as well as older american cars like 70's stangs. Or be like me and get a 96' 300zx tt and rape everyone on the road =)
