They don't charge you to quote. They get a percentage of the premium if they place coverage with thier insurer. Read - Incentive.
If you have a bad driving record you might be sub-prime meaning that you are going to pay a higher rate or go with someone like a minimum coverage company. Don't start there though b/c you will get screwed. Everyone is 21 once and the job is not a factor. What area you live in and your driving record will be most significant. Usually the nicer insurers are the cheapest.
