What do you prefer?Manual or automatic transmission?

I would love to try out paddle shifters. :P





Ferrari 612 Scaglietti features the F1a paddle shifter transaxle.

you guys could give me a hand?
i'm moving to the us. on the airport i'm gonna rent a car which i bet is gonna have an auto transmission. could you tell me what gears i gotta use not to wreck it?
as long as i know:
D - drive - when i start drivin'
P - parking - as i leave the car on the parking lot
R - go backwards
that's all i know. am i right? what are the remeining gears? can i switch the gears while i'm pressing the gas pedal or when im moving or perhaps should i hit the break?
i know this may be a dumb guestion but i've never driven a car with automatic transmission:\

@ MagicPloish - Those are the 3 you need to know...it's so easy a monkey can do it. Really have no worries..ust try to stay awake while driving.

Manual for fun and automatic for the traffic jams

got 3 vehicles 2 manual 1 auto because auto is good in the mud when fourwheeling

this how it works...u put it into drive then accelerate to 100k/m, then shift into 1st (itll be labeled) and drive in that gear for now on....

BTW., I'm saving money to buy a used BMW 530 diesel, and even though I prefer stick, when I find a good one I don't care wheter it's stick or grannymatic. Most of them are automatic, as they are mainly used as taxis. However, I don't think the "good one" will be a former taxi...

Well at least that's my opinion with 4 cylinder cars.. When you're talking about a 6 or 8 cylinder car, I would actually prefer automatic... at least if it's not a sportscar... My daddy's old Audi A6 2.8 was nothing more than perfect with its Tiptronic gearbox, but once I tried a Peugeot 307 1.6 with an automatic transmission, and it just plain sucked...
I know for sure that an automatic transmission would be a disgrace for my own car for example... A Citroën Xsara VTS belongs with a manual transmission, final!
