LADA rocks...! my grandfather drove exactly the same one for more than 13 years and that car never broke down or needed repair! sold it to a russian soldier shortly before they left the GDR :-/

for a first car, these are the best!
my friend had one of these a few years ago, always started, never broke down... until he parked it against a house...

Haven't had any experience with those cars....but I drive a 12 year old car that isn't the prettiest anymore but gets good gas mileage even when I'm going 85.

Nothing wrong with that. I had my Grandmother's (may she rest in peace) 1989 Dodge Aries, baby blue four-door for 10 years. I bought it from her for $1800 before she insisted I didn't actually have to finish the other $200. It was *AWESOME* for winter driving. I also had a decent sound system put into it.

Imagine that, some short brunette in a granny car with the techno tunes cranked.

Hey, in a way it's a classic. A car needs be trustworthy to get you from A to B. Doesn't matter how much or how 'pretty' it is. If it doesn't do that then it's worth squat.

lada's are great...my gf had one until she sold it a few months ago
last winter i lost control and spinned it on the road
luckily, it wasn't even schatched, but she insisted it's not that safe, and now is waiting for her new 206 1,4 hdi...I HATE DIESELS
