Yep. And they start every time. Russians have made lots of incredible technology, war machines and cars. They have thought every single problem and possibility through, and it can't go wrong.

My first car was a 1940 Hudson Terraplane. It was absolutely huge. I got her for $50.00 and my dad sold it on me within a week. I was 14 at the time. My first real ride was a 1960 Hillman Minx. It had an electric select/powered automatic transmission. What a fun little ride this thing was. Fond memories from an old guy.

Wow! An original 2101 still in running condition. Those things are becoming rare.

My first car was a 1978 Lada 2101. I had it for nearly 2 years and must've done more than 50000 km (30000 miles) with it. I got my hands on it a couple of months before I got my drivers license, so I had time to revamp it somewhat. I resprayed the car bright yellow, installed front seats from a Saab, changed the angle of the steering column, replaced the steering wheel with a 14" wheel from a Fiat Zastava, customised the gas pedal, modded the accelerator linkage so that when the pedal hit the metal the car really gave everything it had... It was fun to drive and very reliable. I can't imagine any other car taking the beating it took from me without complaints.

I bet the inside smells like someone loves it. in the early 90's I was driving a '78 Ford pinto. it smelled like those little pine trees, that was the only thing good about it.
