That could have ended up in a big mess :/
Looks like the jet wasn't the only one shooting a projectile.
well i think cameras controlling each departure (fist pic)
and each arrival (second pic) are quite justified
anyway the pics ar great but i do too doubt
about that being a true pic
ok everyone missed the obvious reasons it is a fake... #1 i believe that missle requires a lock on before it will launch and if you doubt that let me say this.. its a rock where are the flames and why did it fall to the deck before starting away? they launch directly from the wing no need to fall at all

I speak as someone who has never spent 20 years on a carrier and has seen Top Gun 3 times that could be real or fake. Also I don't think most of us could fly an F-18 if our life depended on it.
Yet another reason i love it here..i learn something new everytime i come here..I come to look at tits and learn about missles and aircraft wings on aircraft carriers..Isn't WBW awesome
they launch directly from the wing no need to fall at all

I do not doubt you, but I thought that those fell away from the jet and then ignited.
That would explain the release without the ignition of the propulsion system. Then the enertia of the projectile coupled with the quick deceleration of the jet as it lands and is hooked on the cable, would alow the projectile to pass the jet.
Just theory with very little actual hands on experience.
i think it was a hard landing and it jarred the missle lose. the jet stopped, the missle didn't.
