Jerks abusing the ratings

I know this one has come up again and again, but I'd just like to reinforce how annoying it is...

There's some absolute cretin who goes through everything giving a rating of 1 - I've just seen it happen on the "This week" movies page. Now, I can understand why people who upload stuff get upset about this, but I want to give a view from the downloader's perspective: ratings are a useful way of working out what might be worth a look, and what might not be - and given how large some of the files are, this type of hint is actually pretty valuable. As a result, it's seriously f**king annoying to have people abuse the ratings like this, especially when you yourself put a lot of time and effort into giving good, responsible ratings (I've done over 13,000 so far).

Isn't there something in the Terms of Service that can be used to eject morons who do this kind of thing? Or if there isn't, perhaps something could be added?

Geez I'm mad... I'm going to go away and put myself in the fridge for a while to cool down.

It's been an issue for a while. I told Diz that we need to eliminate the whole "1" vote anyways, limit it to 3 or 4 or possibly have a tracker that can see who all has voted 1.

There's nothing that can be done. I wish there was though. That shit pisses me off so much.

Its actually rare that I rate pics as a 1.

Of course not! That's why I'm posting it here, to see if there's something the more responsible members of the community can do to kick these pustules out.

I agree, I try to be honest. If I don't like a thread or pic, I just don't vote. I had rather not say anything than say something negative, even a 1 vote.. Everyone has different opinions. I have given a 4 or 5 as my least vote.

Consider yourself lucky this time. I couldn't look at it for long enough to vote.

hmmmm...

well since youre talking about vids and not pics i can understand the frustration even more.

you wait a while for the damm movie to download, and give your rating on it, then have some fucker ruin the
rating, so the next person sees the low rating and might not even bother to download it.

We should be able to track the people that vote 1's consistantly and take away their voting rights...there

My problem with the people who vote 1 is that I have seen on many occasions that pics have been voted 1 in order for another pic to stay at the top of the list and the person who did it actually put in their comments that they did this. I assume the same probably goes on in the videos section.

What I'd really like to see is a way to force comments on pics you vote on and list your vote with the comment or an optional way to see the vote list.

Here's a thought, I use a 1 to 5 rating system in my work in order to get daily feedback on my performance. Every once in a while, I'll get someone who gives me all 1s. When I approach the individual and ask what his/her issues are they tell me they misunderstood the scale and thought 1 was the best score. How about sending a PM to the 1 scorer and ask if they understand. If their answer indicates they understand and are just being a prick, drop them like a bad habit.

Yeah, it's definitely a frustration. Hopefully some day there will be a some construct in place to limit the phenomenon, in the meantime i just try to share for the sake of sharing and not just for ratings.

The problem is we don't know who gives what vote, that's why we can't ask the person. Besides, why would he bother to respond?

i havent' rated 1 . i start with this. But don't forget that anybody is alowwed to vote 1 or 2 or whatever he want's..... maby the system should be "rate 5 to 10" .....
