Lol Here in the Oil sands we have many Chinese workers and we never say Oriental as that would be discriminatory . We call em ornamentals instead ......

I'm 32 actually. And I guess I've lived in this hick town way too long because I have honestly NEVER heard that. My cousins are 1/2 Japanese and I have called them "oriental" in the past and they have never corrected me once. Guess you learn something new everyday. However, I hate political correctness. You never know what to call people of different races anymore.

My asian friends and in laws say "rugs are oriental, people are asian".
Calling people what they prefer to be called isn't politically correct, it is just being nice.
