I remember I was sitting in electronics class, and some kid that always walked around during class (he was in our class yet always left to walk around) came in and said someone just hit the twin towers with a plane.

We all go to leave and watch it when it happend, it was like watching a movie it really didn't look real.

we had two Iraqi students that made an appology speak they felt they had too, even though they had nothing to do with it.

I was playing "Firearms", a mod for Half Life. Then someone called me and said "Dude some dickhead flew a plane in the WTC" and I said something like "yajajajaja moron". But then I turned on the TV and saw it. Hmm yeah I watched TV the rest of the day. It was the crapiest day ever.

"it was like watching a movie it really didn't look real."

Yeah first I thought "Damn not another movie like that"

And that was the day when I decided to join the Army.

Its amazing to me reading some of your posts that it really did affect people from everywhere in the world - not just america.

I guess I didnt know the sentiment was that widespread.

I was at work when it happened - a lady I worked with had immediate family living very near that area. I think her family made it out ok.

I was putting on rappelling demonstrations for some high schoolers in Ohio... It was a recruiting effort I was sent to do from Ft Campbell...

I had just finished an "aussie" rappel, and was prepping for the next group of kids when one of the teachers came out and said, "You guys should come in here and see this."

The school was silent, and the first thing I said after watching the first tower go down was, "We're going to war."

I was stuck in Ohio for almost an additional week. We ended up driving back to Kentucky with a rental car. Ft Campbell was a mess... One gate was open, every car was being searched. Tanks on the main streets, complete with barricades and checkpoints. Totally stressful time.

I was drivin around flippin radio stations and smokin a blunt. I passed Howard Sterns station and he said he was looking at the towers cause he could see them from his building. It was right after the first plane hit and everyone was still kinda in shock thinking it was some kind of accident, then when the second plane hit everyone knew it was no accident. That was a shitty day. If you really think about it though we're really lucky in the US cause there's a lot of countries that deal with terrorist bombings every day.

I came home from school, I was really bored and opened the TV. Nothing were on, so I surfed all the channels and started to watch BBC World which had some shocking images. Live broadcast from the scene where the first plane was just hitted the tower, and nobody didn't knew what has happened. I watched BBC and our own news for the whole evening and saw live how the second place crashed.

I know lots of american history and stories behind those buildings. That was really shocking for a non-american too.

I was working at a camp for youth at risk. I was watching CNN when the thing happened, we cancel morning classes to let the kids watch but they complained about seeing over and over. They watch lots of action flick and had no idea this was real. i sat before the screen all day in shock. I had lived in New york awhile and worked in restuarant right near the WTC. I knew many people who worked there casually. I have not been back and would find it hard not seeing those two towers on the skyline

My dad had just picked me up from drivers school when I heard about the first plane. When we went into the store a little while later they had a tv on that's usually for sport results showing the second plane going in. We spend most of that day listening or watching the tv, they had special broadcasts on mosts of the channels.

I was sitting in my office in Toronto watching the news via realstream when it started to happen. I was actually supposed to be in the WTC in NY that morning, but my boss called me at midnight that morning and told me that some people were not going to show for meetings, so I didn't need to fly down...

I thought that political stuff was against the rules on this site

On 9/11/01 I was on my way to work as usual stuck in the I-680 gridlock, listening to KNBR680 Sports Radio, Gary Radunich when he mentioned something about a plane hitting one of the towers at the world trade center in NYC..So they broke away to a news flash..Gradually, when it sank in that this was a serious matter..KNBR Sports radio turned into KNBR news radio..I remember noticing that nobdy on the freeway was driving the usual morning rush hour way..no darting in and out of lanes..no horns..It was like everything was in slow motion and calm.I looked over into a few cars and noticed people crying...By the time I got to work we were all a bunch of zombies

My oldest son, who is now 7, was just a little guy at the time, and we were watching "Barney" of all things and had NO CLUE what was going on. I got in my car to go get a haircut and had the radio on sportsradio. At first the guy was talking about the "city being on fire" and there were "people jumping from windows." I thought he was just being a sports radio guy, then I figured out pretty quick it was real. I called my wife and asked her to turn the TV to a regular station, and she said "Oh my God." I went home and watched all day long...

I was in basic training for the US Airforce, we where on the parade grounds and we got called inside our barracks and the tv was on in the day room, all I remember was my TI saying we have been attacked and this is what we where training for. to protect our country and our families. At that time there was about 80 young men willing to go to war and get the POS responsible for what had happened.
WE WILL NEVER FORGET

i was a freshman in high school. i was in my 3rd period math class when they told us. it was literally 4 minutes from the bell to next period. i was sitting with a group of my friends. when they told us, everybody stopped talking. you could walk in the entire school and hear a pin drop. that's when they told us about the pentagon too. the airport that the plane had taken off at (dulles) and the pentagon were about a half hour drive from us. a lot of kids went home, parents came and picked them up. they kept us in lockdown the rest of the day

I was sitting in front of my PC and was chatting with friends at IRC, when I saw how the first plane flew into the first tower on tv. At first we didn't realize that it was real and we thought it was a terrible accident, but then the second plane hit the second tower and we recognized what happens. We were shocked and we also was scared about what happens. The whole day we saw the news...
The next day in school nobody was able to smile, to say anything or to show any feelings, all pupils were shocked. We made a human chain on the street with about 1000 pupils and did a minute's silence. Notwithstanding it happend so far away from Germany we all felt helpless and were scared. At that day we all were Americans.
