Well..back in 1995 when I was 40, I was hangin around a cute lil 26yo sweetie who took me to see Dave Matthews in Portland, Or. at the newly completed Rose Quarter..Back then, Dave Matthews wasn't as big time as he is now..
She also took me to an outdoor "Indigo Girls" concert that same summer which was a visual experience in itself..lots of loose, lusty lesbians teasin and pleasin the male minority in the crowded beer garden watchin the sights..
..Before then..in the 70's and 80's..it's all so cloudy and hard to remember..but i 'know" i saw alot of good bands..lol

Actually hemi..I did get to see Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson a few times ( My memoery is coming back to me now)..and i don't know if you've ever heard of "Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks'..and "Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen" or "Elvin Bishop"..but these all were in the early to mid 70's bands..Before Bill Graham got alot of them and began promoting them up in San Francisco at The Fillmore West and Winterland.. I used to go see them at the Civic Aututorium and the old Fox Theater for $3.00!!
I do remember going to a New Years Eve concert with "The Allman Brothers Band" and "The Marshall Tucker Band" together..at the Fillmore..Marshall Tucker took the show man!

And then thewre were the "Day on the Green" concerts at the Oakland Colliseum!..The 2nd day on the Green cost $8.00 and had, "New Riders of the Purple Sage", "Commander Cody", "Beach Boys" and the "Grtaeful Dead", when Pigpen Mckernan was still alive..But, by far the most memorable "DOG" was "Led Zeppelin" AWESOME AWESOME show!! I remember selling Budweiser's out of the 12 pack for a $1.00 a can in line before the show started..then using my earnings to parlay for drugs once I got inside..After reading "Hammer of the Gods" and finding out that the reason that the concert started so late was because the Led Zeppelin manager and Bill Graham literally got into a fist fight over Graham adding more seats up front without consulting the band first..
Another true Bill graham story..my brothers first concert in his life..the Rolling Stones are playing at candlestick park..and he and his bodybuilding friends are up front pushing and shoving with everyone else..when my brother says, "...some old man pushes me and tells me to sit the fuck down, so I pushed him back and knocked him over..Then all these big dudes jumped on me and we all got kicked out.."The guy he pushed was Bill Graham..ha..ha..ha..ha..
