Weapons laws?

I was reading through some of the various firearms laws that are applicable where I live. This made me curious what the laws are concerning weapons (firearms, batons, bladed weapons, tazers and chemical sprays) in other countries?


What country do you reside in?

Can you have long guns, if so is there a waiting period?

Can you have hand guns, if so is there a waiting period?

Knives and swords?

Batons, billy clubs, etc?

Pepper Spray?

Stun, tazer guns?

Can you have long guns, if so is there a waiting period? Yes, not sure on the waiting period, I don't own one and never applied

Can you have hand guns, if so is there a waiting period? Same as above

Knives and swords? Yes

Batons, billy clubs, etc? Don't know about this one, I don't think so but I could be wrong

Pepper Spray? Yes

Stun, tazer guns? Yes as far as I know, but again I could be wrong

There is a criminal background check made at the time of purchase, if you don't pass it they don't sell you a gun. Knives, swords, batons, billy clubs, pepper spray are all legal and require no permit or criminal back ground check. Stun, tazer gus are illegal

Can you have long guns, if so is there a waiting period? Yes, There is a five day waiting period nation wide to check criminal background, etc. Although, you can get around this at gun shows, or at least you WERE able to, haven't been in a long while.

Can you have hand guns, if so is there a waiting period? Same as above.

Knives and swords? Legal, no wait.

Batons, billy clubs, etc? Legal, no wait.

Pepper Spray? Legal, no wait. Actual mace requires a permit

Stun, tazer guns? Legal in AZ.

Yes to all of the above, as long as your a criminal, otherwise your screwed..

Batons, billy clubs, etc? Ah, here I think there might be some restrictions, especially depending on if and how you want to carry them. Switchblades and spring-loaded asps are illegal, but gravity-assisted or spring assisted knives and regular asps are legal.

Pepper Spray? Yep.

Stun, tazer guns? Tazers are legal, tazer guns... not sure for citizens but cops have them.


No permits to own guns, no permits to wear guns in a big ole gunslinger holster, but if you want to be discrete and keep your gun out of sight, you need a permit. And getting a permit varies from county to county. Some make you jump though hoops, some will mail the thing to you, some have photos on the permit, some don't, and some counties *cough* Philadelphia *cough* try to keep you from having weapons at all until someone reminds them about that silly constitution thing. Whatever. It's not like they wrote it in Philadelphia or anything.

The laws about concealing knives are intentionally vague, so the best advice there is just don't piss off any cops. Which a general rule I follow no matter what.

Yes, over the age of 18, no wait. BB/Air Rifles and paintball guns no age limit.

Can you have hand guns, if so is there a waiting period?
Yes, over the age of 21, background check wait.

Knives and swords?
Up to 8", no switch blades.

Batons, billy clubs, etc?
Varies from item to item.

Pepper Spray?
Don't remember.

Stun, tazer guns?
Probably so, but again don't remember.

No need for any of the above. I just tell people that I know Honda and they back the fuck off.

Kinda hilarious some people outlaw tasers, but not guns.

Same here in Missouri

I don't really know all the laws for Virginia. I would have to look it up to be sure.

Technically as far as knives go you can carry knives under 4 inches(blade length only). Switchblades however are restricted to military and police use only. I still have one that I carry on me all the time though. :P

we still allow open sidearms, although most business establishments don't. but it's not unusual to see armed men in rural areas of the state.

Knives and swords? If they are not sharp you can have stuff like swords under a collectors permit. Its illigal to to carry a knife that is longer than 8cm or can lock the blade or can be opened with one hand. I think

Pepper Spray? No. The police have it on trial basis.

Can you have long guns, if so is there a waiting period? Yes. There is no waiting period. They run a check with the FBI and various law enforcement agencies and it takes about 10-15 minutes.

Can you have hand guns, if so is there a waiting period? Yes..same as above

Knives and swords? There's no limite on number and size of knives and swords. In fact I never leave home without a pocket knife.

Batons, billy clubs, etc? Only limit on those are the collapsible kind. Only law enforcement can have those.

Pepper Spray? No restriction

Stun, tazer guns? No restriction

I'll add that we do have limits on the number of rounds our guns can carry. I'm not for sure on the exact limit but clip sizes are restricted even after the Brady Bill expired.
