Ok, I'm working on some avatars for myself and I can't decide which one's the best. I'm trying to get my name as grafitti-like as possible so that it'll blend with the rest of the pic, any ideas/thoughts?

I think you're problem is that you are trying to make it blend in by adjusting the transparency which is just making it fade away and become illegible. I don't know what program you're using but in photoshop you could try using a bevel effect or maybe add some feathering. If you have a tablet you can do it by hand with the smudge tool to get some really cool blends.
