I think I'm not the only one who is tired of those f*cking little bastards!

It's happening now, the viruses rumble around the internet making their own little thing. No matter what you do, somewhere they find their way to you computer.
Like last week, there was this happening around here, where people come with their computers and put them on LAN. Then some dumb-ass who wont fix his Windows, comes there with a machine that has Lovesan or something like that. He logs on, and in few minutes, all 170 Windows-machines have the same little bug and the Gigabit LAN and 20 megs outline are stuffed with shit sent by the virus!

Did everybody have fun? Oh, yes they did cleaning up their computers and so...
And what about the organizers? they had fun also with the main switch getting 1000 queries per second from the viruses!

but today, I had my own little vendetta:

I got a Trojan on my machine. It tried to connect to an outside IP, but waas blocked by my firewall (that also gave me the IP).

then I went to Symantec's website and traced the IP and sended an e-mail to the ISP's abuse-mail, and asked them to investigate what's going on in their network.

Let's see what happens, a

so basically, this is not any important topic, but I started this for all the people who are frustrated with viruses so we can speak our minds about them.

Okay, first off I agree viruses/malware sucks. However, I like the balance, software developers create more advanced software to stop viruses & malware, so virus programs have to develope new ways of getting around it. I just like that yin & yang battle that goes on there, basically forcing each side to get better and advance themselves. However, yes getting infected with a virus, malware, even ad-ware, just sucks. That's why I keep a software firewall on my computer and an active virus scan, that way even if I hook up to a network that's behind a firewall, I'm still somewhat protected from infected computers that are already on the network (behind its firewall). Or maybe I'm just paranoid

I have no virus checking software. Ignorance is bliss.

yeah Dagon...getting a virus couldnt happen to u! its just the "others"! personally, never had problems with them..im pretty well protected i guess..nice firewall, antivirus program constantly updated! but its a fascinating dark art i must say..very high tech todays hackers..for example, wit_mht might have reported the IP of some poor schmuck who doesnt realise his computer is being controlled by someone else! all of a sudden the NSA is banging his door down and they find some kiddy-porn some hacker was storing on his harddrive OOPPPTH!

Anyone with virus concerns should check this out. This is the NEWEST and BEST antivirus I have ever worked with (and I know them all pretty well) Anyone with virus' already resident should download the free 15 day trial and install this stuff. It ROCKS! Not only can it handle ALL your antivirus needs, it also does spam blocking (you'd be amazed) , it has anti-popup software built in (provided you use IE 5.0 or greater) and it also has some trick-ass parental control features for those of you with housholds that share your machines with your children. Check it out, its free for 15 days! Then, considering all of its features, its pretty reasonably priced. Oh, and yes, it has a firewall also. Peace!

I dont excactly have problems with the viruses, coz I also have a up-to-date virussoftware and soft firewall (Norton Internet Security 2002, yes, I'll update it hwen I have enough financial resources)

Normally viruses don't live in my computer very long

This topic was basically a personal outburst for my frustration for having 15 malicious infections in the last 2 weeks.. It kinda' makes you wanna kill somebody

But I'll have to disagree with thewizard about Nortons "resource hogging"..
While running on full power both the antivirus and firewall take about less than 10 megs of RAM and few % of cpu's power.. (1GHz @ 727 MHz intel P3 processor)

Wouldn't call that hogging

sygate and norton 2003 installed here. I'm pretty safe. although I did have a problem a year ago. was a bit slacking it all, didn't have anything installed yet (also cus of installing issues with norton). finally.. I ran into a virus.
took me 6 hours to remove the little bugger. had to rename iexplorer.exe (internet explorer) to .bat to get on the net (yes.. it actually worked!) and found out on norton's database what the virus did and how to remove it.
I had to manually remove it from my register which took me the longest part of the 6 hours but I eventually ended up with a clean machine
