Vid Editing Software: Help?

I've never really been into editing vids before. Basically a friend of mine gave me some vids of him and his girl. I'd like to post em but he is my friend and so I'd prefer to do a face blur on em and a lot of them are hidden camera type vids so I need to be able to chop off the beginning and end because there's 10 minutes or more of the camera just waiting for people to come along. Just wondering what vid software people prefer for this kinda stuff.

I don't really care if it's free or pay software cause there's ways around paying. I'm not looking for something super complicated that can do really awesome stuff unless it's also easy to use for simple tasks. In other words I don't need the photoshop equivalent of video software here. Took me a long time to get the hang of photoshop and I don't really want to invest that kind of time into learning vid software. So anyway, what do you guys use? what do you suggest? pro/cons?

Pinnacle makes some good video editing software. I bought a gizmo to copy video from an analog source to my computer and their Studio v.9 came with it (they are on 12 now). It's pretty easy to use, but has a lot of extras if you want to use them (like transitions and effects).

They have three versions of Studio, ranging from (US)$50 to $130.

It's the only one I've used in depth, so it's the only one I can really comment on.

Appreciate the info.

From what I can tell from reading Pinnacle Studio doesn't seem to have a "motion tracking" feature. In other words it can put a blur but the blur will only stay in one spot and not move with the face. Can anyone confirm or correct this statement or suggest an alternative program that does have motion tracking?

Oh and get After Effects too

awesome thanks! You even threw in the tutorial. You're the man gopher.

What does after effects do? Is it vid related too?

@mods: if you edit his post cause you don't like the torrent reference please just remove that line and not the whole post cause I need his link to the tutorial when I get home. Thanks.
