True Detective HBO Series

This is the best series I've seen in years. Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey star. I've always liked Woody and never liked McConaughey but I must say the McConaughey character in this series is amazing. Episode 4 aired this past Sunday and it was so intense I kinda had to shake it off when it was over.

The McConaughey character delivers an existential monologue in Episode 1 that kind of tells you where he's at:

Agreed, its a fantastic series....to bad there are only 4 episodes left.

I tried watching the first episode... I just hated it. Never got any point to the whole thing.

One of the best things on TV right now, for sure. McConaughey has always been a really good actor, just took too many crappy roles. See Dallas Buyers Club if you want to see him at his best. Betting he wins the Oscar for it.

I have to agree. I love the show. Good writing, good acting, fascinating story. And the dual timeline thing is an interesting technique also.

So there was the implication that Rust might be our killer but I think that's not the case. (Most of the investigator's suspicion was based on the fact that there was no record of his Dad having Leukemia, which was just his excuse for taking off time to go find Ledeux)

Alot needs to happen in the next two episodes to bring this story to conclusion so I hope they don't shortchange plausibility in the name of creating a plot twist.

Like any other series, it takes a while to develop. It gets pretty intense. Great show, in my opinion!!

Watch "The Wire" if you can find it.

There's been some really good TV on over the past 5-10 years, and I enjoy True Detective, but The Wire is still probably right at the top of the list for me.

The Wire was pretty good too!! But the top of my list would be The Sopranos. Best series ever!!

The Sopranos was probably the first series that showed everyone what a well written, well acted, well supported television series can achieve. It was groundbreaking.

That said, I guess I just thought the subject matter in The Wire (the first four seasons, at least) was more interesting, and they had characters that I thought were a little more interesting/complex.
