I think it's an interesting view on society actually. When someone (or a nation in this case) focuses on something for so long, it can almost be a let down when the thing they've been focusing on happens.

True that--especially when no one really knows "what's next?" when the dust settles and everyone is finished celebrating this guy's death. I'm not celebrating, for some reason I can't. But summer is here pretty much! So I don't intend on staying on the death of a mass murderer thing for too much longer. I'm bound to get distracted in the coming days ahead.

On a lighter note...random Amber Heard image.

He was entirely irrelevant. How many leaders of Hamas have been killed over the years? How many leaders of the PLO? Lots. Have they stopped lobbing missiles and bombing shopping markets? Of course not. But pointless symbolism is huge to a lot of people, mainly because a lot of people are not very bright.

If this is such the monumental moment it's being made out to be (so far), I'm guessing we see the repeal of the Patriot Act, the disbandment of the TSA and elimination of all those silly nonsensical security measures, right?

Generally agreed. But sometimes symbols are important and this event has significance.

ROFL...."most people aren't very bright". So true. Anytime I see a mob congregating, including the one outside the White House tonight, I am convinced of it.

I agree, it's strictly a symbolic act, but sometimes symbolism can greatly effect people. I don't think it changes anything though, even though the public was lead to believe that with Bin Laden dead, the troops could come home, the airports would be safe again, and in general life is good.

I'm not saying the world isn't a better place without Osama, I'm just saying it changes absolutely nothing with respect to American foreign policy, international terrorism, etc. And the symbolism is only important because people perceive it to be important. On its own, the act means very little.

LoL

I'm working on it. My goal this year is to walk that far in less than a day. (In the area where I posted the pic last night)

edit: Still on the streets for the biking.

I'm happy, I pretty much ran the full distance, I only stopped a couple times for 90 seconds.
