Chime in if you saw it. I thought it was pretty good for a remake, although Jennifer Connolly could be replaced by just about any inanimate object and the acting wouldn't be very different.
Too bad Fox lied about The Wolverine: X-men Origins trailer just get people in the theater. This is the last Fox movie I'll ever pay to actually watch. Stunts like this make me cheer every time someone bootlegs a movie. $13 bucks to see a movie really? No wonder the U.S. economy is screwed with the dickhead theater companies leeching money out of the audience. Die movie industry die all ready. Oh yeah screw J.J Abrams too, Star Trek is gonna suck.
Happy Birthday to me.
Hallelujah!...Where's the Tylenol?"
Please do not bash Jennifer Connolly, as she's a lovely lady. Jerk.
But the movie looks intriguing. I'll probably check it out on Netflix, at some point.

I haven't paid to see a movie since Team America (shifty eyes).. I loved the original and I was psyched to hear there was a remake (though I hate remakes) but when I found out Keanu Reeves was in it, part of me died inside.
Meh, as much shit as Keanu takes for being a douchebag actor, he's actually been in some pretty decent flix. I didn't hate Constantine, I really liked The Devil's Advocate and the Matrix (at least the original), so I don't think he, alone, necessarily kills the movie.
I kind of look at him in the same way I look at Tom Cruise, in that they're both kind of morons and generally fail at life, but know how to get themselves into the occasional decent movie (of course, Cruise is much better at that than is Keanu).

I have not watched the movie yet, but in the words of my drunk roommate, who watched it, then watch the original again.
the new "remake" of the day the earth stood still is total propaganda. it's not even like the original. examples:city's are different, plot is global climate not peace, character's are totally different, etc... the whole thing makes me sick. the democrat's have ruined one of my favorite movies. the thing is trash. might as well call it porn. looks hot but the plot and storyline is shit. well if you want to see a good movie watch the 1951 version and boycott the new one. I personally will take a piss on anyone's floor who buys the fucking trash, fyi!
I have not seen it, but I still want to.
*** SPOILER ***
Okay, movie sucked . . . Keanu sucked big time . . . the characters were all one dimensional, if that . . . there was absolutely no character development and no depth to anyone. The only character that threatened to become interesting was the Oriental guy that Klaatu talked to at MacDonalds. Now, the one really good part about the movie was GORT. When he dis-assembled himself into the tiny nano-bots that began to devour everthings, that was cool, and a fantastic representation of the 'grey goo' phenomena . . .
So, bottom line, the movie sucked. It took what was an incredible seminal piece of cold war science fiction and dragged it through the mud to come up with an incredibly poor piece of eco-scare cinema.
And, yes, Jeniffer Connolly is very attractive, but that was not enough to save the movie.
every review I've read so far on "The day the earth stood still" -plan on seeing it soon - states Jennifer Connolly is the best thing in the movie (besides the CGSE )In addition to that, the way she looks plus the fact that she's won an Oscar ( A Beautiful Mind ) reinforces the fact that the topic starter here doesn't know what the f*ck he's talking about !IMO
The problem was not with Jennifer Connolly (and having an Oscar does not mean the every project you do thereafter is going to be great, Sylvester Stallone won an Oscar). The problem was that the actors had nothing to act with, the writing, the basic premise of the movie was poor.
I like Jennifer connelly and i think she has a beautifull pair of tits - fact is i couldnt stay awake longer than 20 mins. in the movie cause it sucked!
I don't have any interest in seeing this movie... I just had to laugh at the OP thinking that the movie industry has contributed to the sinking economy. I do, however, have to agree that the new Star Trek is going to suck... probably as bad as the last one, which was one of the biggest disappointments of a movie that I can remember (followed by Quantum of Solace - I had high hopes for the new Bond franchise).

I have to disagree, the new Star Trek looks amazing. No one has anything to go off but the movie trailer. I have to agree, the last 2 Star Trek Movies where unimpressive. I sure hope they dont go so PG like the last 2 offerings.
I knew "Day" was going to suck as soon as I saw the trailer. The original movie is a classic that can still stand up today. Remake's never get it right, but then again most big budget flicks suck anyway. Look at "I, Robot" it was nothing like the book at all. It was all flash and style and completely blew. Now Will Smith, he's a movie killer.
I had thought about going out to see it, but I guess seeing as how mediocre to shit it was, I might as well save my time and just download the shit when ever I get around to it instead. :P

I have also seen this movie, and although it wasn't completely shit (I didn't fall asleep), I'm not sure it was worth the entrance fee. Keanu's role was pretty easy as far as he didn't need to convey any emotion at all. Plus, the **** SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER**** bit where he finally decides it worth saving humans was directed/written in an absolutely appalling way. I really hate movies that spend an hour doing nothing, then ruin the plot (I'm pretty sure it had one), and then finish. Especially when Jennifer has some cracking tits and there wasn't even a hint. That was basically why I agreed to go in the first place. I assumed there would at least be some Connolly Cleavage.
