You would need an analog-to-DV adapter. It definitely can be done.

I just bought this USB TV Tuner, PVR, etc. Basically you can take any RCA or S-Vid signal and convert it to an MPEG, etc. that you can then watch on your PC and share your vids with the world

So in your case you could play back your video tapes from a VCR or your camcorder into this device and it will record and convert it to a digital file. I've used it to convert some old VHS movies to DVD and it works great! Good luck!

There are several apps that will allow you to do this. Personally I have used Pinnacle Studio to convert Hi8 and Digital 8 vids to MPEG and AVI.

You can buy a winTV card from Ebay for about a fiver.
That's all you need, it's how I do it at home.
Plug your VHS camera into it and download to AVI.

Simple
(Hello all by the way)

Oh, and then, if you can't get your hands on Adobe Premier then Avid Free DV is a half decent digital editing suite that is free.

HTH
