Okay, I saw Star Wars 3 and I was not too impressed. I'll break my reason down to various points:
1. Story Line: Like many Hollywood movies, Star Wars 3 suffers from the idea that the best way to get an international hit is to have a bunch of big name stars, lots of special effects, blow things up, and scrimp on an actual story line since properly translating a story so that it reaches a wide range of audiences from an international perspective to age and subculture perspective is hard. Thus screw the story line.
The second half of the movie was better than the first half but that was more due to the fact that it started to explain much of the basis for the original Star Wars (Star Wars 4). If I had not seen the original I would have questioned why this movie was made- - -it does not stand by itself which is bad because I think a sequel (prequel) should be able to stand alone regardless of any movie it's related to.
2. Special Effects: Decent but not really much better than you'll see on some Saturday morning kiddie shows.
3. Natalie Portman: Hey, I'm a male so it does affect my view of the movie if I think she's hot. She looks quite good in the second half of the movie but does not look so good in the first half.
Executive Summary: Don't waste your money on it. Rent it when it comes out. It's not worth buying because while you might like it enough to have seen it once you probably won't have any great desire to see it again.
[Note: I did not see Star Wars II since Star Wars I sucked so much.]
[Note 2: Any longer and I would have to change my name to Jeff.]
you are still welcome to your opinion, but you DID miss some story line in not seeing episode II that may have skewed your view....
