But i also check out the poster, if its a newish person, i generally delete THEIR post, if it really is a repost it will be reposted OR reported by another member, deleting that pic anyways.
Thank you for the explenation. That is how I was hoping you guys work, but you still say "supposed to"...
I respect that you also look at the poster. That makes sence!
How many reports do you gennerally get per reposted pic? Just courious.

And for the record, people that post the words REPOST in the comments, DO NOT get ANY points for it. You ONLY get points if you use the report feature in the pic and provide proof or a name, a name so we can search it and compare. Only then, will the reporter get a point. NOT by posting repost in the comments.
I think that a lot of members would apriciate a detailed list of how to gain and lose point here on WBW.

Don't you think that if somebody have the link they will post it, no matter if you have posted the empty word "repost" or not?!
IMO you are only helping your self by doing so...

Nope. If I was helping myself, I'd hunt the pic down on my own and find the URL. By posting that it's a re-post it tells people I didn't have the link handy, wasn't going to be assed to hunt it down, and maybe if they know where it's at off the top of their heads they can get the credit for reporting it.
I've also run across others saying re-post, and I barely noticed it as I was about to move on. Then I remember the girl and the pic and find the link and take care of it.
So no. It's not for ourselves that we post re-post (at least not as I perceive it). It's for others and for the site.

Some registration would help.
1. Only allow pictures to be removed from the gallery when a member uses the picture report button with:
Reason: Double
Description: Repost of <<Link to the original picture>>
2. When the moderator approves and hits the "power button" the following information could be stored in the database:
- reason, link of the reported picture, link of the original picture
(all this happens "behind the screens/below the surface"; it doesn't involve extra work for the moderators).
Moderators should not respond to repost remarks in the babe comments, unless it contains the link to the original picture.

Actually. Earlier tonight I was going to report a repost - with added details of the user who posted and some of the words in the title (but that was only because I remembered it as a brilliant post and dl'ed the pics).
I actually deleted my post before posting because I have also been pissed off with people reporting Repost without any back up of the claim. But more to the point, that I believe that repost shouldn't disadvantage the poster until the damn Search function is backup. It's impossible to check for pics with such an archive to wade through.
So, how about the Repost part gets suspended until the Search function is back up.

Just curious.
In what way does the Search function help in finding the original picture?
Huushawdadi 18 years ago
I've often wondered about that myself to be honest. I have assumed people to be more able at using it than I or knew of features that I didn't. It is a common comment to use the Search function to determine if it's a repost. If it's not that then exactly how are people supposed to determine reposts? Is there another File check or something? That would work for uploads but nothing linked.
I myself have been able to use the Search function based on words I remember from the original post or objects used in the pics. ie. Hairspary, Can, bottle, Goth, Punk, <Insert Web Host Chick Name Here> etc. I have a pretty good memory so I can sometimes remember the whole title if the picset impressed me or something similar. Or which member posted it.
However, as I've explained, you have to know what you're searching for to be able to find it. If there is a better way, tell me, otherwise, to the people who add nothing but "Major Repost" or "Repost" without adding detail and by such, essentially flaming the member posting it ... maybe you shouldn't. Which is one of the points of the topic.

I agree, mentioning the link to the original picture should be the only reason for a moderator to remove a picture.

Exactly, and what with the thread-names on this forum, I couldn't be bothered.

I like to shout "REPOST" from time to time even if it's not. I find it keeps the mods on their toes
Tarquin 18 years ago
I've been accused of uploading a girl that was pro before. She was not a pro, however. And yes, I'm quite positive. I agree that some proof of claim should be in order, but then again that would take a lot of time for the mods and the pics would be here quite a while.

Apologies for the double-post. Another thing I've noticed is that when I report, I do it like this:
"This is a re-post of this one:
urlgoeshere."
Then sometimes I check back, and they've deleted the old one and left the new one. They delete the wrong pic (of the two), and delete the one that was here first instead of the one I reported.
That's an issue, for sure, as it means people are getting screwed (at least sometimes).

I don't work with the reported pictures but if I see two of the same, I always delete the newest regardless of who it was uploaded by or what the size of it is.

even if the search function is down you can still access the dev. search function of wbw which includes posts till july I think...

Why would you do that?
I ALWAYS delete whichever is the better quality picture in terms of size and clarity. If they're both very similar, I'll delete the newer one but if not, I'll go with the better quality picture.

My request:
1. Only remove the repost picture. Never the original picture. Give some credit to the member who posts a picture first.
If the quality of the pic is important to you, ask Diz if he could write a swap-image function for you.
2. Only remove a repost if you know the link to the original picture (Better still: you are actually viewing the original).
Never remove a picture for reasons like mentioned elsewhere in this thread:
"if the picture reported as a repost looks quite familiar I'll delete it"
TIA

The only time I report a repost is when I have posted the picture myself. My memory is too screwed up from years of huffing gold paint to rememeber every picture I have seen.
HipsterDufus 18 years ago
In terms of Threads i say i think it's a repost, and i try to find the original threads and post them so it can be locked, merged or people can see more pics of that girl.
In terms of reporting pics. I report many pics everyday. If it is a repost i try and find the original pic and put that in the report, otherwise i won't bother. I see 100's of pics i know are doubles but if i can't prove it they aren't going to take my word for it. I also report any pro models i see.
I bet the Pic mods are sick of my reports
