The newer Playstation 3 is not about to lie down dead due to a bump in the roll out, give it the needed time to get things up and running, thrid party, Sony programming, downloads and online web services, it will start to live up to it's original hype. This is an inclusive HDTV gaming SuperStation with it's web service FREE I might add... and though little is mentioned, I was blown away to find that PSP owners who do settle on a PS3 at home will find the two will eventually share Wifi connection outside the home and content can be sent to whereever you are, that being games off the Net rather then buying actual software in the store. You will of course have pictures, Mpeg4 video, and music formats that it already supports and keeps updating system software for. The PS3 should work as easy as the PSP as far as downloaded firmware updates

Pros:
Nintendo Wii- You can DL all old original NES games!! I love that feature. Ability to move around room and play with action movements. (controllers)
Xbox 360- Kickass graphics, free xbox online play with buddys.
Playstation 3- Comes with capability to watch HD DVD's, great graphics.

Cons:
Wii- lower graphics, some what difficult to control some games...I havent toyed with it too much.
360- $$$, factory flaws, warranties...
PS3- $$$, havennt really heard too much more BAD things about it.

My PS2 works just fine...Ill break down and upgrade once my PS2 shits itself

i have the Wii and 360, and love both and until there are some actual decent games for the PS3 that aren't out for the 360 also i see no reason to buy a $600 box that can supposedly do everything. And to all you who havent heard anything real bad about PS3's they do have problems, 2 friends af mine have had their's just die for no reason and i've read about many more. The blu-ray argument is crap and Blockbuster sucks until the format war is offically over. cheers and good luck choosing a console.

P.S. WoW rules

Sony just announced that they'll be cutting the price of the PS3 by $100 and also offering a new PS3 system with a bigger hard drive at the current PS3 price. If you want a system that has awesome graphics, all of the important sports games, plus plenty of storage space and easy file downloading for your music, pictures and movies; wifi internet and home networking; free online gameplay; and of course the built-in Blu-ray disc player, then I'd go with the PS3. I've had mine since December with no problems. If you mostly play sports games, then the overall lack of games on the shelves isn't really a problem. All of the 2k and EA Sports titles are available. I personally have never really liked any Sony product (tvs/dvd players/cd players), as they always seemed to die prematurely on me but haven't had one problem with the PS3 yet (knock on wood). I never owned a Sony game console before the PS3; having an xbox, Gamecube, Sega Genesis previously, but I'd recommend the PS3. Good luck.

That says it all right there..
I've had my wii for a while now. The games are fun, the system is affordable, and a lot of the major game companies are moving to the wii..
With all the horror stories I hear about 360's doing 180's and crashing, I'll stay away from that one for a while.
PS3? Too much money... Plain and simple. For top end graphics, the PC is always the way to go. I play games for fun, not because they are pretty...

I really want a Wii, it looks so much fun and it's dirt cheap compared to the other two. Pretty cool that's it got online gaming aswell but i've never really been a Nintendo gamer instead i think i'm gonna take my girl to Disneyland Paris and wait till next year and buy a PS3

Dude, do you read any electronic websites? They had PS3s die on launch day. Something like 45 minutes into gameplay. And they have just as many failures as the 360.

Don't get me wrong, most PS3s are probably fine (as are most 360s) just kind of depends on how unlucky you happen to be when you grab whatever console it is you want to buy.

Now, to give my opinion on the question asked:

I'd suggest a 360 or a Wii (if you can find one)

The PS3s have had such a high return rate that they aren't worth it at this time. Not that the consoles were broken, its just that the original purchasers didn't enjoy it (reasonable speculation based on the launch events and recent actions.) My friends and I went shopping less than a week after launch date looking for stuff and the Target, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, GameStop, and local ass retail store we went to all had PS3s in stock, with about half having being opened and returned.

The PS3 includes a blue-ray player, which is neat but unnecessary especially since the HD format war is still in a full-fledged slightly uneventful and remarkably boring battle. And it is expected to have about a 100USD price drop shortly.

But really, I suggest that you research it on your own. You should look into going to a gaming center and purchasing time with each system to get some game time going and see what you enjoy.

I am loyal to Sony not matter what. By the time these current consoles have run their course and the next gen comes out the PS3 will be remembered as the most powerful and with many of the best games. Metal Gear Solid 4, God of War 3, At least 2 more Final Fantasy's if you are into role playing. And if you are into role playing games nothing can touch the PS3.

From someone that has all 3... Forget the Wii unless you always have a mate around to play it with. Mine only see's the light of day when we have people round.

At the min, my choice would be the 360... Simply due to the games that are available. Also xbox live takes some beating, even though you have to pay for it.

But if youre planning for the future here... the potential of the ps3 is outstanding. And dont let the price put you off... you get a full system and the cheapest blu-ray player on the market. The money youd spend getting the 360 on a par with the ps3's built in hardware will take you over what ya payed for the ps3 in the first place.
