The only reason plasmas are on the market is because LCD used to be too expensive to make in larger sizes, and people wanted big flat tvs they could put on the wall, now that the cost of LCD has come down 10 fold, theres no need what so ever to go for a plasma.
The viewing angle on LCD's is now 178 degrees on a Sony, so you just wont notice the picture changing if you move around.
LCD is more power efficient, it will cost less to run.
Hi-Def will look sharper on an LCD because the image is created pixel by pixel, where on a plasma its a big "glow" (which is why it doesnt suffer from pixelation as much as an lcd, it doesnt display the image as accurately).
Plasmas suffer terribly from screen burn, LCD's dont.
*edit* Plasma screens are reflective, so in sunny/bright conditions it looks bad, LCD has a matte finish so it looks better in non ideal lighting.
Conclusion, DONT BUY A PLASMA.
