And love wins in the end, if we didn't have love humans would be way worse than they are now.

Just because I often have a strong opinion on things, doesn't mean I'm a troll. You post things to get a reaction from people, I post things because I have a genuine interest and opinion on certain subjects.

Women can be their own worst enemies. Common knowledge when police go to a home where domestic violence is occurring that they don't turn their backs on the victim(the woman). The women sometimes decides that she doesn't want police touching her man even though he just got through beating her ass. But just because some women are idiots, you don't just ASSume every women is willing to put up with abuse. You don't make laws with the idiots in mind either

I don't know the story behind this, and I don't fucking care either. I'm just saying if some girl came at me hitting, I'd punch her back until she chilled the fuck out. I don't give a shit if you're male or female, if you can't handle the blowback don't start the fucking fight.

I say if they deserve it; knock them the fuck out; suffer the consequences....or use your head; and do the right thing; if you can think that fast and not over react!

The reason his suspension wasn't worse is the same reason he wasn't charged. There is video from inside the elevator. According to that security video, the woman started attacking the man. The man defended himself. The woman was unconscious because during the fracas, she slipped and hit her head on a rail inside the elevator. I'm not defending any kind of domestic abuse, I'm only stating what I have heard regarding the criminal investigation and the NFL investigation. The woman, who is now married to Ray Rice did not press charges.

Whether or not to 'knock out' a woman who attacks you first really is one of the great conundrums of the world...

I hadn't heard this, it does change things slightly, although I still feel that a fight between a 125lb woman and a 210lb man is ridiculous and that while yes she shouldn't be hitting him, he really shouldn't be hitting her.

Oh, I agree. Also, this is what I heard on an AM sports radio station so I don't know this to be the gospel.

Couldn't you have just gone for "they shouldn't have been hitting each other" in general? You're still blaming him for defending himself.
Smaller or not, women can still break noses and bones with their punches. So I don't think he should have just stood there and waited for her to tire herself out after doing who knows what damage.
They shouldn't have been hitting each other. Period.
Violence should be avoided, given the opportunity.
To say that she shouldn't have hit him, but he super for sure shouldn't have hit her, casts all culpability on him simply because he's male. There's a lot of paths that could have been taken to end that differently. But they shouldn't have been hitting each other, and since they were, its theirs equally to own.
It's not like he was sitting down napping and she took a bat to him; or he "Knock Out Game"'d her walking down the street.

I agree with Bangles too. While no dude should be hitting a woman, that does not mean that it's ok for a woman to get violent with a man. If you start a physical altercation with anybody, regardless of sex, your opponent has every right to use force to defend him/herself. Especially since they were in an elevator. What's he supposed to do? You can't walk away. It's the reason I don't pick fights with pro football players. I don't want to get punched by them.

Devil's Advocate here: No one is praising the victim of an assault for defending themselves against their attacker.
To rephrase SP's comment: Should he have hit her? No. But she really shouldn't have hit him and started it.
He couldn't walk away, he couldn't make space. If he closed and bear hugged her, she might have started throwing kicks and stomps.
Admittedly, I'm not fully aware of the situation, but I'm not tracking that he cocked back and put all 210 pounds into a Superman punch trying to knock her through the elevator wall. There's a lot of unknowns in a fight viewed after the fact through public opinion and an elevator security camera. He could have ...swatted(?) at her to try and brush her back and things went sideways for all involved.
Maybe he did Superman punch her. Who knows. Maybe she has fists of iron and long ass nails. Not for me to say. I just know that words very rarely justify violence, and that violence should be a distant thought, anyway.
They both screwed up, and shouldn't have hit each other. Angry words. Silent treatment. Hug it out. Something.
But they didn't force each others hands into fists, they both chose to throw their own blows.

This thread got pretty ugly.
I actually had a job where I had to deal with all sorts of violent people who were in various states of agitation, be it because of mental illness, substance abuse, or just plain run of the mill assholery.
I have literally physically subdued hundreds of people. I never threw a punch while on the job, and was never seriously injured, despite dealing with people significantly larger than I, and numerous people brandishing an assortment of weapons (though never a firearm).
I'm sympathetic to people who claim self defense, but there must be proportionality. If you are an NFL-caliber running back there are no circumstances in which a woman who is not brandishing a gun or knife is legitimately posing a serious threat to you.
Edited update:
I don't know where the "she slipped and fell" defense came from, but this is the criminal complaint filed by the State of New Jersey, who presumably had seen the video inside the elevator:
"Striking her with his hand, rendering her unconscious" does not sound like, "she slipped"

As I've already told you, if you don't like what I have to say fine just ignore it and move on, I have no interest in debating anything with you. However, If you'd bothered to have read any of my posts you'd have seen I've said many times neither of them should have been hitting each other. However, yes I did point out that a highly trained athlete that is almost double the weight of the person he's fighting should be able to subdue his opponent without having to knock them unconscious...male or female.

Not disagreeing, but you're being too general. I bet Ronda Rousey could give him a go, as could most women who have studied martial arts beyond a casual level. And there are more weapons out there than guns or knives. Most everything can be a weapon given adequate motivation.
Also, I feel like your personal experience speaks against the point you're trying to make. Despite your occasionally inferior size, you were still able to subdue larger individuals. You still over powered them. Size is inconsequential given training. The fact that she was smaller than a NFL level running back does not mean that she was unable to cause harm, were she to focus on something other than fists.
And mindset is a large part of an altercation. You went into those instances with general knowledge, training, and previous experience. How many of your interventions were in the confined spaces of an elevator? How did you handle your first experience? It was your job to provide safety for individuals around you, you went to work knowing that you would probably deal with a crazy person. I doubt that he anticipated getting punched by someone in an elevator.
That all being said, yeah, he shouldn't have hit her.
Edit: Yeah, I'm having a hard time finding information on the fiancee apparently knocking herself out.
