So, I'm pretty sure people talk about their resolutions.
Cause otherwise, how would people know to bet on how long it'll take for you to break them?

So, let's all chitchat and stuff about 2012/2013, what we expect to come, what happened in 2012, did you keep your 2012 resolutions, and what do you have planned for 2013?

I'm not big on resolutions, if you're gonna do something, then do it. Or don't. I don't believe in making fake promises to yourself.

That being said, I'm going out of my comfort zone, and soo... Resolutions!
This year, I'm going to go out of my way and be more social and meet people and all that stuff. I'm trying to experience more things, and being a wall fly even in your own room doesn't really assist in that. Bangles needs to make some more friends.

Also, I've decided that for every luxury purchase I make (something besides normal clothes, gas, food, basic entertainment, etc) that I'm going to donate an equal amount to charity or microloan distributors like Kiva.

I'm not making any resolutions with regards to fitness and health because eh, something's gonna get me sometime so whatever; and also, I exercise for like 90 minutes a day 5x a week anyway.

Let's see... as for what happened in 2012... nothing really big happened that I can remember. I came back from Afghanistan in 2011, and have kind of just been chilling out. Was planning on probably getting engaged there at some point. But uhh... that went less well than I was anticipating. So overall, 2012 was kind of a waste.

In 2013, I'm going to see what my options are for career/education advancement, and I should be able to go back to school and start a degree in the medical field. Other than that, I don't really have much planned out, so we'll see how 2013 develops.

Okie dokie, what about you all? What are your answers for those questions (all, or some- I'm not gonna be picky, just trying to get something going. We'll see what happens.) up there near the top of this post?

I'm not much into resolution either but I'll play the game.

In 2012, I was supposed to learn by myself website coding, which I did for the essential part but didn't go as far as I wanted into specific stuff.
Then I was supposed to build myself a complete website, for practice, but stopped half way due to lack of motivation and I never went back to it even though I kept telling myself that I should.

I exercised and practised sport (Kung Fu) for the first half of the year but not really in a intensive way and didn't went back since September, which is a shame.

So I guess what I need to do for 2013 is sort out my motivation issue, go back to sport and resume my projects.
Also, fix my toilet, my power drill and my cooker which all broke this month

New Years resolutions ? Like you, I am not too big on that stuff, but I do set goals for myself throughout the year and here are a few recent ones.

1. Stop fucking around and accept the challenge of yoga as a regular exercise.

2. Adopt "Pay it forward" as a regular ( rather than the current occasional) act. I really like your mention of Kiva.

3. Write more. I mean, spend more time putting creative stories into my laptop. It is great relief to do so and I look at life differently after writing. Great relief.

4.Take up the cello. I have had a love affair with that instrument forever.

That's it kids. I 'm outta here. NIght all !

I've never made New Year's resolutions, but keeping in the spirit of this thread, I can make one or two.

1. Lose 10 lbs. I usually exercise 5x weekly for 30-35mins at the school gym before teaching my classes, so I am getting exercise.. But even after a couple of years my weight has held steady (a few pounds more than I like).

2. Distance myself from pop culture. I am amazed at the shit that garners national attention; it's all so trivial. After Thanksgiving I disconnected my cable TV. I can still get over-the-air channels via my computer, but I refuse to cave in to the ridiculous prices that cable companies charge.

3. Don't get caught up in materialism. I plan to keep my monthly bills paid and don't buy shit I don't really need. Maybe live a tad more simply.

Theorie
p.s. @F1098: bravo for your resolution #4! I'm a music teacher, so I applaud anyone taking learning an instrument.

1) Run the full marathon I was supposed to run in 2012 but didn't because I broke my foot.

2) Go to New Orleans to legit give it a try.

3) Get my advanced scuba diving certification.

4) Do something more artistic. I don't know what...all I know is that I'm not really an artistic person normally, and lately I feel that I need to be.

I was gonna add Fall in Love, but thats kinda already on the list with #2...and also way too much pressure. lol

I think 2:50 is VERY optimistic for first timers, considering the average for men is like 4:30ish.

Also...back off...she's mine. Just in case by "giving it a go" you meant the girl in NoLa

Hmm... 4:30 average, huh? The circuit I run is like 65% up hill. Interesting. Yeah, I'll probably give it a go.

And you can have your Red Beans 'n' Rice, I've got the camgirls who want Visas.
