So I just got a brand new PC. My old one finally crapped out through a direct result of user-error. The result was that I bricked it and rather than reinstalling everything, I simply chose to get a new one. I bought my last one in 2003 which makes it 6 years old at a minimum.
So the old PC had a 14" tube monitor. This one has a 19" LCD monitor. I have to say that it makes a pretty big difference in terms of appearances, especially text and for some reason HTML background colors. It's pretty shocking really. The differences are significant.
The result is I just went through a bunch of pictures that I was previously pretty familiar with, and I had always wondered why some people rate them really badly and others rate them really well. I just happened to look at one of my previously favorite girls of all time and I have to say... Wow. What a howler!
Some of the girls look ten times better, and some of them look ten times worse. I guess the old monitor blended the pics more so it gave the girls a more uniform appearance overall, but now all the blemishes and wrinkles or splotches on their skin are showing. I can see everything far more vividly now, and I've come to discover that this is not always a good thing...
But wow, what a difference the monitor made here. I seriously need to re-evaluate all my favorites now. Some of the girls are definitely not friends with an LCD monitor, while some seem to benefit from it... It's weird.
At least now I know one of the reasons (though more surely exist) that two people can look at the same picture and come to completely different opinions on them... I mean wow. The monitor upgrade is pretty much forcing me to shit-can at least half of my saved pictures. They simply look like utter crap.
Anyway, just rambling. Peace!
