New Computer! :)

Some new features have to wait, because I have to reinstall my new computer!

My new computer is an:
Intel P4 3,06 ghz HT
ATI Radeon 9800XL
512 MB (400mhz) Memory
160 Gig HD
DVD-/+ writer
DVD ROM
ect ect

That sounds like a pretty pimp rig, especially the video card and the dvd writer. hope youre happy with that one and it leads to some good times. the only thing is what youll be running on it? maybe a dual boot of winxp and debian, i can only hope.

Debian is running on my old machine now! This machine is just windows xp corp.. Don't ask me why the hell I installed windows XP ... I hate it! But yeah... I had some problems with the 160 GIG hd under WIN2k and Hyper-threading under win2k... So i had to use Windows XP... I first got rid of the TELETUBBIE interface of XP, it made me crazy

with all the comments on wbw downgrading windows-xp i was beginning to think i had made a mistake when i bought my computor. or is the criticism directed at microsoft.

I think i had a lot of problems with XP in the past.. that's why i hated it so much, XP isn't very compatible with older hardware.. On this new machine it seems to run fine!

BuxomForFun: Downgrading to windows 2000 is always a good option, personaly I think windows 2000 is more stable and faster then XP... Oke oke, Windows XP has more features and more compatiblity stuff... But I love the way Windows 2000 works.. And i hate those theme stuff.. (TELETUBBIE WINDOWS)...

don't have probs with XP, also with older stuff. I even like the "teletubbie" design. makes a much more userfriendly environment and yes, I'm lazy as crap can be

i run xp pro as the main operating system on my comp for the main reason of compatability, and of course games. :P it became too much of a pain to run a samba server so i could share all of my shit on my apts network. and not to mention if anyone wanted to use my computer, i had to hold little "linux introduction 101" talks. but i have had very few problems with it. although i agree with diz-x as to win 2k having many good features to it.

and more....
The good thing about this comp is I still have room to put another Hard Drive in it and a DVD-/+ writer when I get the money...

xp pro, no problems - haven't had a crash in 1.3 years (age of the first computer on witch i installed xp pro) but xp HOME sucks, and very hard. 2000 pro: also never crashes or problems.
