Alright this computer has been driving me crazy. My problem is my computer kept restarting so I eventually gave up and tried to just reformat and restore it. While im trying to restore it gets about 80% done and either crashes or blue screens. It was originally crashing at around 50% but i took out the new NIC card and it started getting a little further.

Its a Emachine T2865, AMD 2800, 512 RAM, 160 HD.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like some sort of hardware problem. You could try taking out all but the essentials and see if that helps, and if it does, put things back one at a time.

Before i decided to restore i got a few errors involving the computer not being able to read or write a certain sector.

Could it possibly be a RAM problem?

Might be a heat problem.
Some viruses are also known to cause this kind of trouble!

I had the same problem on a Sony. It was not the hardware it was because I deleted all of the "free" shit like yahoo messenger ect ect and then the SQL databank, (used by sony's media server) would tell the computer to shut down. it was very weird.
