music keeps screwing up

i was looking for some help, im having problems with my pc when im playing music, the music cuts in and out frequently to the point where i cant listen to it anymore,
any suggestions on how to rectify this problem
any help would be greatly appreaciated

are u playing from a cd or from mp3? does it do it no matter what cd/mp3 your playing? how about with movies same problem?

yeah no matter what cd/mp3 it does it, it only cuts out for like 2 to 8 seconds but it does this repeatedly regardless of the media type?

what do you think ??

i would say check your memory... sounds like you dont have enuff and the pausing might be freezing

It sounds odd that the problem pops up on both CDs and MP3s. Before you play music again bring up your Task Manager (Ctrl+ Alt+Del). Select the "Performance" tab. If you see spikes to 100% CPU utilization then there is your issue. See below.



My guess would be that your CDROM is on the same IDE port as your hard drive. To correct this you would need to move your CDROM to IDE2.

If your CPU usage does not spike look at your memory usage. If it spikes to 100% then more likeley than not your memory isn't sufficient and your systems is utilizing the SWAP/Virtual memory which will slow your system down as well.
