I agree that its not exactly good news for them, but its not all doom and gloom, and it may get worse with more data. Its weird though...you'd think with global warming, the bears would migrate more northerly, but they're not, they're actually moving south.

Yeah and another reality is that even though it looks like a really friendly polar bear, it is still an animal.

There's no reason it couldn't randomly clamp it's teeth down on the back of his neck. Or mine.

That stuff happens quite regularly when people try to keep wild animals as pets.

Um, that's pretty bad though. Of the 12 subpopulations there exists enough data to calculate, a full 67% of them are in decline. Thats, you know, not so great.

I would assume they're moving south because the ice they usually fish from is disappearing. They'll drown if they don't have some sort of stable platform to retreat to.

I agree that its not a great thing, just stating its not as bad as some think.

They aren't endangered (yet) like we're told, and again, not saying that we should wait until they are before doing something, just trying to shed some light on a over-dramatised subject.
