this is a question for all the americans round here. i just heard about the "mexican law" and i was wondering if it really exists and if its a real law in america? do you know anything bout it and bout its history or background?

for those who dont know: the mexican law says that anyone is allowed to shoot at strangers when they enter private property...

Hmm...I think if you have reason to believe you or your family's life is in danger or if someone breaks into your house you can shoot them.

I don't think you can just shoot a random stranger that happens to come on to your property like a door to door salesman or a Jehovas witness.

I may be wrong but I think that's kind of how it works.

I haven't heard it called that. I don't know where they got that term from. I don't know what it's called if anything. I call it self defense.

i have forgotten where i heard that name, i was wondering about it quite a while...
maybe it was made for farmers or ranchers in the 19 century? i think they werent visited by salesmen and j´s witnesses that often... rather by horse-thieves

I'm only aware of that law in Texas and Oklahoma and I have heard it referred to as the "Make My Day Law". I'm not big on illegal immigration from Mexico, but calling it "The Mexican Law" sounds like some racist pig that has some deep hatred towards Mexicans called it that.

If it's an old term from the 1800's everyone here was racist so it wouldn't be that surprising if they had a law named or nicknamed like that.

It' not a law per say, more like a defense for shooting someone who breaks in or enters your house with out your consent and you have to prove they inended to do harm to you or your family. There is also a cath you can not shoot the person if they are attempting to flee the house, so no shooting in the back

in Florida, you can shoot anyone who broke into your home whether they're running or not. They just passed the law not too long ago that anyone caught breaking into a home is automatically assumed to be doing so for the purpose of commiting a violent crime and as such can be shot dead whether or not they are threatening you. They made this law to protect people from having to prove they were in danger, it's enough proof that the asshole was in your house now. Same goes for on the street here now, if anyone attacks you with any kind of weapon you can shoot them. You used to have to prove that your life was in danger from the weapon, but they got rid of that. Same goes for if your attacked by more then one person. Most states your still screwed if ya shoot somebody, but it's getting better down here.

so it's a pity that Brenda Ann Spencer didn;t live in Texas, she could have just said that all those other school children and teachers were attacking her when she massacred them

In Missouri 5 years back (might be changed now, not sure, I've moved) a guy got shot after walking into a guy's house and fighting with him. He was shot in the back, so the threatened part didn't fly. In Illinois I think the same thing applies, as long as it's in your house.

I also have heard from multiple sources that in Texas, if you catch your wife with another man, killing them doesn't equate to jail time.
