Linux installation Help

on fedora 16 my monitor doesnt get set up correctly. i know on a command line install i can add resolution=1024x768 but i havent read of how to set the Hz or Hsync, Vsync or Aspect Ratio.. Any help is much appreciated.

I have the same ?? posted in a few linux forums but no answers.

old dog new trick thing i guess. been using fedora ever since redhat 5.1... may be i'll get an ubuntu spin & check it out. I only use linux at home, no dual booting dual core 3ghz, 4gigs ram and 300 gigs bios raid 0+1 serial ATA graphics card is a Geforce 9800GT

My experience is that Ubuntu has better hardware detection, easier to configure.

I agree with Diz , but then I have to .
cant help with Fedora but video problems were why I switched from Slax to Ubuntu, Ive not had any problems since.

thats pretty good cause it didnt see my video card or monitor or even ask about my raid set up. also i didnt like the layout.

anyway the post was about the first topic, not Linux flovors......

AHHH the problem seems to be that my video card output is dvi, adapter cabled to a vesa lcd flat panel.. so i'm hand wrintting a new xorg.cong file because all is not lost yet. baha

maybe i should just get a dvi monitor?
