Ok everyone, I want to know your opinion on the topic of weed being legalized. My personnal thought is that it should. Think about it. When people smoke, do they speed while driving?? NO When people smoke, do they get along with eachother?? YES They have already proven it helps some people with Medical issues. I see nothing wrong with pot its a plant, obviosly it was meant to be there right Im just cuious on peoples thoughts around the world.

Legalise. I don't smoke it often - I'm a non-smoker anyway, but from a medical point of view (my profession) it's far less harmful and socially better for everyone than alcohol or 'normal' cigarettes.

its a narcotic substance and should not be legalized. It severely affects the mental and physical health of a person it many ways. Reduces testosterone, raises estrogen, makes u paranoid. It causes obstructive arteorial disease and lung problems and it is addictive. Many things can be extracted from plants and other natural resources.. cocaine etc.

so if they should legalize weed they should legalize all other narcotics as well. How about legalizing steroids?? There is no scientific evidence to suggest that long term use of anabolic steroids has ANY negative side-effects, and short term has been proven safe with only few cases of acne and breast tenderness. There have been no reported deaths or serious side-effects from the use of anabolic steroids. Why shouldnt those be legalized as well if weed, that has been proven to have severe side effects in ones health, is...

By legalizing it, the government would simply encourage its use. If they are trying to ban smoking weed doesnt stand a chance, and thank god for that.

I agree with Overlord. There are 0 scientific reasons to legalize it. All the smokers can find lots of reasons of course, but none of them can convince me.

From experience I can tell I have had all the effects you describe. My lungs are screwed for life and I am left with a bad legacy and parents that will never trust me again (i stole a lot to afford my addiction). Not something i'd recommend.

This debate has been going on since the 70's. Possibly longer. The laws have already been relaxed to the point where, in most states, possession of half an ounce or less is no worse than a speeding ticket. and some places don't even bother enforcing that much. Back in the day, possession of any amount was a felony. But as far as outright legalization, it would be nice. But I don't see that happening any time soon.

Legalize it simply on the standpoint that government should have minimum influence in our lives. Seat belt laws, mototcycle helmet laws, abortion, they're all the same. Let me do what I want with my own body.

The negative effects of marijuana have been seriously exaggerated and even lied about for years. One new study suggests there is no link between marijuana and lung cancer, possibly because THC dilates the lungs and promotes the destruction of tumors. Just don't smoke the stuff with tobacco. Maybe that's the real problem--that most people who smoke marijuana also smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol.

I'm inclined to believe that the ban on marijuana is in effect a ban on what society deems strange behavior. It's okay to get drunk and beat your wife (people have been doing that forever), but don't pretend you're an electric eel at the bottom of the ocean because that's just weird.

It's also a huge waste of money and prison cells.
