It depends on the cable and the DSL. Where I live, fastest reasonably priced DSL connections are 8Mbit, while fastest cable modem connections are 6Mbit (which can, in worst case, be shared with the whole block).

Still unsure if its faster than my DSl was,anyways reason we switched was high prices.
