I must have forgotten to close my tab a bunch of times over the years. It usually happened at a bar that I was a fairly regular patron of, so they would just give it to me the next time I came in.

So when you go to a restaurant or a bar, you let your credit card to the employee until you pay and leave ?

At most bars, if you want to open a tab, they make you leave a credit card so if you walk out without paying, they can charge your card.

I've walked out a few times at a place I frequent. Never on purpose, usually I'm just drunk and forget to pay. I always go back to square up the next day but they usually tell me they didn't notice.

Here most normal bars make you pay right when they serve you.

Usually, crowded nightclubs are the only places that make you pay as you go around here. Local pubs and restaurants will usually let you open a tab. If you're a regular, they won't even ask for your credit card.

A couple of years ago I was at the bar I frequent and they gave my credit card to another patron whom I did not know. (I guess we had the same card) I wasn't too worried but I did what I thought was best and when I got home I called the bank and cancelled the card. The next day I was at the same bar and the girl they gave it to came in and gave it to the bartender with a five dollar bill clipped to it. She didn't realize she had the wrong card until the next day. She had gone to McDonalds on her way home from the bar and bought food and wanted to make sure she paid the card owner back for it. I thought that was pretty cool.

Even when you already know, It's nice when you get proof that not all people are opportunistic low-lifes.

It seems there was just a few incidents when they tried to push forward but that's no big deal. But the whole movement is stupid. Gay marriage change nothing for them but they feel like protesting anyway, some because they don't like "marriage" is used for gay when it's also the religion word, others because they are just retarded (some says if we allow gay marriage, we'll soon allow bestiality and incest... Yeah, that's a pretty common talking point for France's retarded American cousins too.

As for the adoption thing...its preposterous to think that gay parents can do as good of a job screwing up kids as straight parents.

@Kanzen I don't think anyone who grew up in a small town is a hick...I myself grew up in a very small town. However, its about exposure to new things....to something or someone who is different. There is a lot of talk in the US media right now about gay marriage, because of the supreme court case going on, and because of this, there are all kinds of new stats and statistics being brought forward. I think the most interesting one is that the majority of Americans now support gay marriage (about 63%) but the real interesting statistic is, when people who used to be against gay marriage were asked why they've changed their mind; the vast majority said it was because they now know someone who is gay.

It was in front of the US Supreme Court today.

Sounds like they're not going to rule on it, and allow the 9th circuit court's striking down of California's prop-8 to stand.

So, essentially, gay marriage will be legal in California, as Proposition 8 outlawed gay marriage, but if they do that it won't have much relevance for the rest of the country.

Thats disapointing news. I really believe its going to take a Supreme Court ruling or a national law for gay marriage to be legal in some states.
