Okay, bros...I have a (4ish) year old HP laptop. In those four years I broke the screen, the "c" key and it's overall pretty beat to shit. It's pretty shit in general if I'm being honest.

So, it's running Windows Echs Pee. I want to buy a newer laptop, like a nice one, with a lower amount of RAM and a reasonable processor, since I'm going to have to either clone this HD into the new one, or straight replace it (if possible, I'm not a computers bro anymore) so, anything over 3GB of RAM is a waste as a 32bit XP will only recognize 3GB of ram anyway.

Or like, is there any other way I can do this? I'm pretty unsure. Also, my current laptop hard drive is encrypted becuase I do not fuck around. Will that cause issue if I attempt to clone it? What is a good cloning program.

Kanzen and I already talked about this, but I think he was in a hurry or something because I got some pretty vague answers. The kind of answers you only get from someone who is so god damn fed up of people asking him computer questions he probably spent a good ten minutes spitting at his iPhone before he bothered to reply.

Suggestions, overall...things I could do, laptops in general, tips and tricks to reduce your penis size so it stops tearing up your girlfriends vagina so bad? (obviously not you DEMO).

Just get a new fast whoopie-dee-doo computer with all the bells and whistles and such and just go with Windows 7 or 8. Windows 7 is actually pretty solid, as far as that goes. I went from XP to Vista, which was terrible horseshit, and then got this computer with Windows 7 already on it and it turns out that it's pretty nice

But, I guess if have some sort of crazy reason for being a Luddite, that's cool too? Or not but I'll just humor you and say it is.

I suggest that he figures out what he wants, and then solders that board together with chips he fabricated in his own basement and then runs on that machine an OS that he wrote himself.

I need the OS to be echs pee because I have a program that requires it, I tried to install it in a computer with vista using their backward software dealio. Did not work. So I'm stuck with Bill Gates fist up my ass on that one. I absolutely cannot lose this program. Plus, I know and love XP.

I was thinking I could pull a fast one and install my current laptop hd in a desktop, then lol away with my new flash laptop. Sadly I need this program to stay mobile. Fucking horseshit.

Is it a program you use all the time, or is it one you can run within your new cool box?

I have a certain scanner that I really like and is great and stuff, but it's old as balls, and therefore there are no drivers for it past Windows XP.

I got around that by installing Oracle's VirtualBox which allows you to basically emulate any operating system you want while running your new Windows system.

So, if it's something that you only use from time to time, you can emulate the older system and run it all from there.

Or I suppose you could set up your new fancy computer with a dual-boot system, which allows you to run XP if you so desire and Win7/8 the rest of the time?

Well I've only had two Lap-tops so I don't know if I can help much. I found the better you tip them the better they work.

I liked XP. 7 might be better, but my "search" has never worked. Xp searches were spot-on.
