And the Yanks think they have it bad I'm only laughing cause I'm nuts and there's no tax on that yet.
Read On:
This is too true to be funny.
The next time you hear a politician use the word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about whether you want the 'politicians' spending YOUR tax money.
A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of it's releases.
A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.
E. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.
While this thought is still fresh in our brain... let's take a look at New Orleans ..
It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division.
Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D) is presently asking Congress for 250 BILLION DOLLARS
to rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number... what does it mean?
A. Well... if you are! one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman, and child) you each get $516,528.
B. Or... if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.
C. Or... if you are a family of four...your family gets $2,066,012. Washington, D.C.

Billion?

Hell, Fannie May and Freddy Mac currently hold approximately 5 trillion worth of mortgages, and they're backed by the government so that they will not be allowed to fail.

Yay US dollar!

The founding fathers fought a revolution for a lot less. Unfortunately the USA is on the fast track to full on socialism and the only thing that's going to stop it is another revolution. Our rights have been trampled, our Constitution misinterpreted and bastardized and our wages stolen, all by the so-called "public servants." Who ever heard of servants treating their masters in such a many. These idiots forget they work for us not the other way around. The presidents approval rating is 29%, congress is even worse at 18% and they still keep doing the same things, and the American public lets them get away with it. Tar and feathering is to good for most of the bums. Sorry for the rant.

Unpatriotic, obviously.

Haven't you heard? Attitudes like this only help the terrorists.

Meh,

A weak dollar isn't that bad.

It's also not really that good.

But still, unless our entire economy collapses into ...nothingness the dollar is, for the distant future more or less good no matter what happens.

And the economy can't collapse into nothingness because the world NEEDS the US. The world needs the US dollar in whatever fashion it happens to be in at that moment.

Because a weak dollar allows the world to buy our products, while a strong dollar means that we can develop stronger commercial ties with the world. (Although they are already generally very deep rooted.)

Sure, it'd be awesome to be able to buy things manufactured in Mexico for a nickle, but having other countries invest in our services or purchase our goods is also just dandy because it facilitates development and growth.

So yeah...

I mean, I prefer a strong dollar. But a weak dollar, within reason, is by no means bad economically.

And the US is still the richest country in the world...... it's not the cost of things that are going to bring us down, it's our ignorance and inability to change what is happening.

Well, the US as in government is the richest, 80% of the US's citizens are not as well off.

When a government of a country can throw money at other countries to maintain peace, let it politicians. friends and family go on long vacations with the citizens unknowingly footing the bill and then reluctantly increase minimum wage to 7 dollars and hour.

Something is wrong

Politics pissed me right off, politicians do the same...... but I gotta tell you the US is still pretty much the best place to live, it's getting expensive though, and most of the younger people in this country don't care, the older ones don't give a shit as long as they keep getting their social security money.

I have seen people that literally rip the government off, repetitively and thats why things won't change here. They would rather pay 5 dollars per gallon of gas, 8 dollars for coffee, 15 dollars for cigarettes as long as the government keeps handing them free mone(free to them, but not to the ones that work their asses off everyday to carry those fucks).

"Socialism - A theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole."

We are in fact going the exact opposite of Socialism in this country; the vast bulk of all holdings are in the hands of large private entities which are in bed with the government (I.E. either controlled by or controlling). In Socialism, the vast bulk of economic holdings would belong to the common working man. I whole heartedly agree with the rest of the sentiment though.

We can spent all these trillions on a fruitless and pointless war, killing our best young men and women and sullying the image of the US worse than it already was, using it as an excuse to let our rights be stolen, and yet we cannot even make the effort to try to find jobs and function for the many un/under employed in this country, let alone reliable, reasonably priced health care for all working citizens.

Yeah, but here, if you lose your job from say, a closing or a buyout or some other shit that is beyond your control, you are good and fucked, unemployment does not cover shit for an honest hardworking person.
#3771089
Thats not entirely true, you can get laid off from a very well paying job and go work for McDonalds the next day or do some other shit job.

The problem is (one of them) people in the US would rather sit on their lazy asses and let the government control their life then to work a shit job like McDonald's.

Why do you think so many Mexicans and other S.American people kill themselves to get into this country, they don't mind doing the shit jobs for low pay, they are coming from a government that doesn't let them do anything.

The media in this country has people so brainwashed on fear and celebrates, everyone thinks they should be dropping 50 thousand a year for doing nothing, and they won't take anything less, now im not saying every American is like that there are alot of good honest hard working mother fuckers out there.
