A federal judge recently banned the slaughter of horses in Texas. Said it was to inhumane or some shit. The meat was being sent to Europe. I'm just curious if there is a lot of horse meat eaten over there. I'm not judgeing anyone, just curious.

So it's not humane to eat horse meat - but capitol punishment is humane...? -What a weird state, Texas...

Texas? I think the problem is that it's inhumane to cut into the beef profits.

I don't think it's inhumane, some liberal judge thinks it is. He would probably ban capitol punishment if he could.

in northern new jersey, the state just placed a warning on eating squirrel meat. apparently those north jersey squirrels contain a little too much lead.

W-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-y back in the 60's there was a franchise called Burger Queen that got busted for having some horse meat in their burgers. I ate some and remember the burgers tasted a little sweeter.

Just so they don't ban eating "pussy" in California... I don't care what they do in the great state of Texas.

well in parts of germany its quit popular, lower rhein region for example... and the french used to enjoy it a lot too.
and i can't see anything wrong with that, had horse roast in germany which was excellent, which i can't really say about the raw horse sushi i had in japan once, it had hardly any taste to it but it was better then the wale meat i had after that, that was just soppy tasting but the wale i had in norway was fine stuff, as a roast with so odd jam they make up there, yellowish stuff with lots of seeds in it.

The taste of the food in frence is a sacred thing !

We eat all sort of meat, maybe it can sounds inhuman but it's a tradition that came from ages, you know in our past, just having meat to eat was a lux, I heard that in the XIV century we ate rats in some city because there was nothing left to eat.

So, with time it became a proof of good taste to be abble to eat and enjoy all sort of meat(maybe because only the rich people in the past were able to ate it), frog, horse, cow, duck, chicken etc..

Nowaday it's still in our cultur, wasting meat is sacrilege !

My english is a bit low I hope you understood the idea of what I wrote.

Ciao

well, i still eat my squirrel stew or bbq them to jerky, there is nothing wrong with that... and it is not just for hillbillies billy and to normal beef, ever thought about BSE lately, since this is many not a canadian problem but an problem in the states since you guys don't have proper meat inspection in place that checks ever animal that is processed like we do or the europeans, but only every 1000 to 10,000 butchered animal is scanned in the states. still going for good old beef?

personally, i favor the beef i personally know, raised at a friends place, what once had a name to it is safer to eat

The Dutch eat horsemeat. If you Google 'paardenvlees' (paarden = horse, vlees = meat) you will see recipes for it. I don't eat it myself. In NL they mainly raise holstein (dairy cows), not beef cattle so you don't see a lot of red meat consumption compared to North America. Don't really know the origins of eating horse meat though.

From Wikipedia it states that it is much sweeter than beef, and that most of it comes from Argentina but ends up in the US. (??) It's pretty much just Belgium and NL that eat it. It's banned in the UK as well.

Funny thing is that if any of you guys came here to Amsterdam, and got all stoned and ate meat croquettes (look like breaded sausages with a gravy/meat middle), chances are you've eaten horse meat as it is one of the ingredients.

He was bitching about the way they are killed, and sense he dosen't eat horse meat, I guess he dosen't think you should either. My family dosen't eat much beef. Only because South Texas has the largest population of wild hogs in the states. I just set my trap and get all the free meat I need. I also have a few nanny goats, and I butcher their kids.

Homer J. Simpson:

"I like pizza, I like bagels,
I like hot gods with mustard and beer
I'll eat eggplant,
I could even eat a baby deer
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la!
Who's that baby deer on the lawn there?"

If you think Mickey'Ds and Burger Slop don't use Horse Meat in their burgers, I have a bridge to sell ya.

Both import a lot if not most of their "meat" from Africa where Horse Meat is usually infected and mixed with other meats.
