Cards are tricky. They're not worth what you have to pay to buy them for. That's for retail sale. If you want an actual price for their value, take them to three local card shops.
Any card is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Like a classic car, what the "blue book" is may be very different indeed from what the car is worth to the right person, or not worth to the wrong person.
Take them to a card shop.
Condolences on your mom. My world would end if I lost my mom. Best wishes.

There is a book called "Becket". It is a trading card pricing book. I used to use it school. The problem I understand now is that Memorabilia has dropped drastically in price. Because of Ebay and internet scams. The best thing to do is look through them and see if anything jumps out at you as worthwhile.
It will help if it is mint condition, which is pristine. No flared corners or anything. Im sure there are websites now that can do the samething as becket.
I had the same thing happen to me in grade school. I had rookie cards of Terry Bradshaw, Tony Dorsette and many others, we moved and my mom threw them out.
Good luck buddy, That's all I have..

Personaly, I would hang on to them, only because if the price goes down, the fact of where you got them never will. Maybe
one day the value will increase, who knows. Don't shop them around, all you will get is used car guys talking shit.
Allways check out ebay, even though there are some scams, there are also very good things there aswell.
Did Honda just stick his hand up my ass and make me talk like a ghey soft puppet..
Good luck with the cards..

Honestly, your best bet is to grab a Beckett and look them up that way. Yeah, you may spend 5-20 bucks, depending on how many sports, but that way you will have a better idea. Another issue too, is getting them graded. If they are graded, they will be worth more if the PSA is a higher number. Basically, you send them to a company that does grading, they send it back to you sealed in a case, with the info about the card, and it's grading at the top. I used to collect back in the day too, and have 30 some thousand cards at home. Now, they are probably worth nothing, but I'll still hang on to them for my kids. These days, collecting has just gotten way too complicated.

I have a subsciption to beckett and know a good deal about baseball cards, pm if you need help

the big thing will be what year the cards are from, if they are from the early 90's they are mostly worthless. Condition is the most important thing

Just another thing to throw out there to you...THE TRADING CARD INDUSTRY SUCKS RIGHT NOW. If I were you I would hold on to them for as long as possible to see what the industry does. I have a Joe Montana Rookie card that a few years ago was worth a couple thousand dollars, now I would be very lucky if I got 500 for it. I know that $500 dollars for a card seems like alot, but not in comparison. HOLD ON TO THEM! That is the best piece of advice I have seen on here yet. BTW I have been collecting for a long time, and the industry goes up and down ALL the time. Patience my friend!
Also, as said, Beckett monthly is the way to go!
just write down card #'s, years, and card company and go stand in a card shop and look some of them up.

dont go to a card shop hit up barnes and noble. you could sit there for hours and look up prices and they dont care.

and the card industry doesn't stink now, it is hotter than ever, but it is now geared towards the younger players not yet in the majors. Vintage cards are not the hot thing right now.

ebay can be a good indication of what a certain card will sell for, the main thing is if the cards are in good condition then they should be put away in a book or somewhere where they cant get ruined
