I put this stuff in two rooms about two years ago, and we haven't had any problems with it. It looks great, and it doesn't cost near as much as real hard wood

yeah cost is different, but the look doesnt last as long. I had it in areas of my old house, the shine didnt last as long and started to look faded. So i got the real hard wood in my second house.

If youre after a temporary thing it should be ok, but if its long term....have a look at places that have had it for a while and see what they look like

what would you define as temporary, 2-3 years?

it all depends on how much per sq foot you pay...you can get cheap stuff--------to great stuff
all depends how much you wanna pay....you get what you pay for
I am a flooring installer for Lowes and home depot...I see this stuff at least a few time a week
the install is much easier then hard wood
a decent grade lam. floor should cost about 2.50 per sq foor USD....

I installed a lam floor in my mom's house back in Oct/Nov of 2003. It's a Pergo Prodigy lam floor. Even on sale it was pricey. She had 2 dogs, a cat and a me running over the floor during visits. She keeps a clean house and sweeps and mops the floor on a regular basis. That's the secret to keeping floors and carpets in good shape, sweep and vacuum often. Afterall dirt is like sandpaper when walked on. So the floor still looks good after 2+ years.

It's true, you get what you pay for but if you take care of it and don't abuse it it will last longer.

If you do it yourself take your time. No doubt TJ can help more than me but should you decide to do this yourself get/rent/borrow/don't steal a sliding miter cross cut saw and a table saw. These two tools are essential in doing the floor. I used a 40 tooth blade, no burning/clean cuts. If you get a pro like TJ then stand back, keep an eye and leave them alone to work.

Good luck.

Well, I'm not sure this is entirely on topic, but as I'm currently refinishing my hardwood stairs and landing any of you guys have any handy tips that I may not currently know?

Agreed. I have it in my kitchen. Although, DON'T GET IT WET!! I had a small leak in my floor and it warped like 6 slabs. FIxed it no problem, just a hassle that can be avoided.

Great advice! I have a question? Is ther any thing you have advice on to help original hardwood floors with dark stains. I assume, they came from a former owners pet. Thanks for any advice.

Best if a high powered cleanser doesn't clean it, the best best would be to match the stain colour and sand it down a bit...but don't get crazy, you don't want a miss shapen floor!!
