Not a fan of Hughes, don't like the idea of "ground and pound" but I give him respect for doing what he has done.

GSP, Penn, Sudo, and the Gracies are more my style.

Hes also not too bad at submission holds. Perhaps not the best, but fairly decent. There are several others I love to watch, but forget there names at the time. I keep thinking one of the names is Tequilla, but Im thinkin Im gettin that name from another aspect of my evening...

i lost interest in Pride/UFC fighting after i rented a documentary on the sport, and you see these guys admit injecting themselves with painkillers before fights and taking steroids and shit. too much fuckin cheating going on

Painkillers are an essential way of life mate if you do something intensely for a very long time.

My friends in football would take 2000mg of advil before their games,
and I used to take 300mg every 30 minutes while swimming.

NO, i'm talking about taking painkillers to numb their faces before fights so they dont feel anything, not for sports injuries. Some of these guys dont feel pain when they are getting punched in the face, and people out there think its all adrenaline.

I played basketball through college, and used to get cortazone shots on a regular basis. When you move up in levels of competition, its not always cheating when simply dealing with the blows of the sport. Dealing is different than enhancing.

Its not kiddy soccer on saturday when you become a pro in any sport. I will never condone enhancement, but dealing with pain, ya... thats simply a part of it. If you are hired to beat the fuck out of some other dude who wants to beat the ever livin fuck out of you... painkillers are a given. Beef roids arent.

Well, getting punched causes injuries They're taking the pain killers to deal with the injuries involved with their sport.

I used to spend 40 minutes using hot packs and being stretched by Jenn (the trainer) each day before second practice. And then I'd take the pills so that the popping sound my shoulders made (and still do) were amusing instead of painful.

I agree Pride is better than UFC, as far as good fighters go. But st pierre might as well have raped hughes in the middle of the octagon...would've been a better show. Hughes, IMO, is over hyped and too many people think hes some kind of god. same goes for wanderlei. it was a miracle hughes beat penn the second time, and anyone who knows anything saw pierre winning their fight before it happened. Hughes should move up in weight or retire...its enough already. roar.
