I started looking for a good desktop client that would work with Hotmail's Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) and Gmail's Google Sync. Well I found some.
eM Client. It will sync your email & contacts via the EAS protocol. Downside: No calender support and no PUSH and only 2 accounts allowed in the free version.
Outlook 2013 has full EAS support including PUSH. It will sync email, contacts, and the calender. Big plus: It uses MS Word as it's text editor which lets you create spam quality messages. Downside: Expensive.
Window 8's built-in Mail app supports EAS and PUSH. It syncs your email and contacts. The calender is synced as well, but it's a separate app. Downside: Metro interface only.
Thunderbird. Ha Ha. Just joking. Mozilla dropped development of it last year. So it's still stuck with POP & IMAP.
