I thought the same thing today, but considering that most of Mexico, and the Mayan were located in what is now Central Time Zone (North America) or UTC-6, I'd think you'd go by their time. So in other words, as of writing this, we have slightly more than 34 hours remaining.

The time of the actual winter solstice which is reported as 11:12 UTC even though most point to 11:11 UTC as the actual time based off the Mayan calendar. Which would be 6:11 or 6:12 AM on the US east coast.

Has anyone actually met a person who believes this nonsense? I recall last spring that some moronic preacher was claiming the rapture was going to take place in May (?). Then he later recanted and said he miscalculated and meant October. I haven't heard anything from him lately. Geez, the stupidity of humankind!
