I'm 25 and neither, one is scottish and the other is way too posh, theres not that many famous people who are from my part of the country that you would have heard of so it's kind of difficult to think of someone!

OK Obviously if English is your second, or third language chances are you probably do...I'm from South Florida and I dont think I really have any accent..but my family is from Chicago and they all have a definate accent ;example "Shikaahgoh" is how they say it..New Yorkers definatley are identified by their accent,; "Im from Nuu Yaaawk" ... Deep South out to Texas have the "Southern drawl". no example needed there....my buddy from Boston, oh yeah he's got an accent he says "I live in Baahston, I dont need a cah (car) to go to the mahhket (market) to get food, I use the caaahhbs (cabs)" ...

We don't say Nuuuu Yaaawk... that is a common mistake, more then 90% of the ppl frm ny dont say it that way. It is actully ppl that have italian accents that say it that way, more commonly then others.

So back to the q, no i dont have a accent, i do pronounce words differently(but not really too much) and i use diffrent words then in other parts of the US. I do travel alot and thats how i realized this.

Everyone has an accent of some sort!
[/reply]

Actully that isnt true. Like i said i do say words a little diffrently, and use diffrent words, but not every1 has an accent. And if you have studied sociology they say that not every1 has one. (within your country that is it is not the same when going other places in the world)

And how come i'm the only one that you disagreed with, other ppl said no tooo.

Ok, you are clearly in denial, if I was to speak to you on the phone, you would sound totally different to myself, therefor you have an accent, you may think that you are a neutral from your country and you don't sound like a typical new yorker, but I can pretty much guarantee that someone you didn't know could pick up on the fact that you are A) American and B) from New York.

I am not just disagreeing with you, i'm disagreeing with anyone that claims that they don't have an accent!

i'm too tried to think about this anymore, and i didn't want to not reply. And we arent going to see things the same way with this whole accent thing, so i say, we agree to disagree.

As I live in the Midlands and come from London I'm screwed both ways. In London they think I've picked up on to many country slack jaw yokell words and in the Midlands they call me Cockney even though I tell them I'm from West London and Cockneys are from East London.

It just goes to show no matter how you talk the world is full of dumb arses!!!
