DirtFloorPoor...being able to crack jokes is fine. But cracking jokes at a military service is like you making fun of someones car when you don't even have one. Not only you those who have served/are serving think your an idiot, but your only making yourself look stupid in front of people who had the guts to enlist/be commissioned.

As for the dingle berry (Tupuc)...Iraq has been on tv for what, 5 years now? I think if you were as smart as you think you are preaching you would know your ABC's. Guess what, I'm bilingual and I still have better spelling in my secondary language than you

why? cause he spelt iraq in his native tongue? which is irak?
if all you can do is flame him for his spelling, you got bigger issues.

i have 6 years active in the Army and have been in the guard for 12 for what your wanting the coast guard would probably be best. I spent six months in Afgan., and 16 months in Iraq. Stay away from the regualar service if you go you will end up in the middle east, and i agree if the recruiter is talking hes lying!!!

Go with the Navy.. I was an Air Force man myself (TACP) but either Navy or Coast Guard.. The Coast Guard pretty much gives you what you ask for without any surprises... My brother was an Army recruiter.. They lie lie lie and put down other branches to get you to sign your name. Once you do, they wont help you anymore. Be sure to get stuff in writing and signed when making deals.

If I had it to do all over again it would be the Coast Guard or Navy. I would get all the experience needed to obtain my international captains licence, they I would captain super yachts for the super rich all over the world.

Recently, some shit occurred in my personal life and I've started redebating what path I want to follow in life. For a long time, I've concerned the military services. So I guess my question is this, as a college educated individual, on my way towards getting a graduate degree, does anyone have any opinions about military service that they want to throw at me? I've contacted an Army Recruiter, but am also considering contacting the Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. To be honest, in some ways the coast guard might appeal the most to me, as they are non-combat oriented and have a lot of rescue programs (I've always been a big outdoorsman and have a number of outdoor certifications ranging from SCUBA to some rescue certifications). Anyways, please no flaming or trolling this thread. I'm really curious as to whether anyone has any opinions or experiences they'd like to share. (I'm not really looking at the marines, don't know why, but of the branches they've never appealed to me as much, but might be worth looking in to).

Then go to the top shelf...Coast Guard

FYI: Coast guard IS combat oriented, but not AS MUCH as the Navy! They have the same 76mm gun and CIWS system as we do on their ships, and still conduct drills using them! But you are correct about the rescue missions and mari time interdictions, the Navy does it aswell but aren't as "dedicated" as the Coasties!

sorry to the thread starter, but you picked the wrong group of people to ask this question to....even though 1/3 said dont join the services..

and since people cant keep their insults and childish behaviours to themselves....maybe we should ban all talk of that fucking war too.

You wonder why certain discussions arent allowed here? well this is why...
people just cant seem to allow others to have an opinion without attacking them...they cant discuss without insults, you fucking attack people who are NOT native english speaking people for their spelling for fucks sake..
