If the hard drive is buggered, and there's still 4 months left on the warranty, I damn sure wouldn't buy another one!!

I'd try Daniweb.com for machines that don't POST, but if you do, type your question properly, that site is for IT professionals and they WILL frown on poor grammer

HP will generally will drag their feet until your warranty is out. Almost all HDD manufacturers have diagnostic software for download @their website. See who manufactured your HDD (Western Digital, Samsung etc..) go to their website and download diagnostic utility on to a FDD. Boot Laptop and run. If it's a bad HDD, you will find out. Good Luck!

word, i have had the bblue screen problem for on lots of customer machines, however....its rarely ever the hdd. ram is the most common culprit. if you have any lying around exchange and see if it works now. bottom line its under warranty so send it back and give em hell.

don't listen to what these guys are saying- if you are using windows, if you can boot to windows, you need to set it not to reboot on failure. in the control panel under system, click "startup and recovery" uncheck the "automatically reboot" button, hit ok.

no matter what, you will need the 0x000000** codes at the blue screen. take those codes to a computer with internet access and google it. or lookup on microsoft.com

anyone who's worked in an IT environment can tell you faulty ram is NOT likely the culprit, if it can boot, it's probably something that happened from updating the drivers through windows update.

i've seen hundreds of blue screen errors ovver the years, and have yet to see a blue screen related to the RAM.

this will generally give you a starting point.

most likely it is an issue with an "updated" driver.

Funny, I have never had a problem with HP's customer service. They replaced my LCD monitor with no problems whatsoever.
