Ok, so, i got a virus, and couldn't get rid of it, so i called dell, and they helped me get my computer back to factory settings "out of the box" I lost my winrar program, bit torrent, media player classic, and gimp a photo editing program.

I'm gonna need a little help getting all that stuff back.

I always used windows media player to watch movies, and porn, and now its not playing my movies. Was it working before because i had media player classic? if so, where should i download MPC from, what version, stuff like that, i need some help here.

I think the basic K-lite will install all the codecs you need, but I always download the full version and install with the "lots of stuff" option. If you download the full K-lite, it will include Media Player Classic, and I'd install it, even if you want WMP to be your default player. Make sure you select the correct player you want to be the default during install, and make sure you associate all video format that your recognize with the player.

If you don't get it right the first time, just run the K-lite installer again and change the options.... no need to uninstall or anything.

also grab this up its a cool program that will tell you what codecs your files are encoded with and if you have them installed at times it will even link you to codecs if they are not installed.

haha, someone just direct my stupid ass there

You should try VLC media player if you've never tried it, there's no bullshit just a few basic settings and it plays practically anything. You can also take snapshots and stuff. Just be sure to make it the default media player.

Oh Dell. Not surprised they just had you reformat. Too many computer comapy tech supports will do that. Not saying that it doesn't have to be done every now and then, but it's always just the easy answer, I think.

For your video problem, VLC is best. Granted, I haven't used MPC since like 2005, so I don't know what exactly its like anymore, I know VLC is simple, and will play any ole' shit you throw at it. Corrupted pronz from 2003? Sure go ahead, youll get part of it to play.

My first computer was a Dell. Reformatting was their answer to everything. But on the positive side, that's how I learned to do it!!

WMP for two reasons.
1) You can set the brightness control to remain open and accessible at all times
2) You can edit the filename, or even move or delete the file while the video is open and playing.

JSteel, here's a safe download for K-Lite, I didn't check it, but it should include MPC

Thanks

It says: What's new in this version: Version 7.0 updates Media Player Classic Home Cinema to version 1.4.1.2845

so does this mean its got MPC in it, or it'll update it if i already have it?
