Are there any Youtube video downloading utilities that aren't complete vehicles for useless bloatware?

One of life's biggest mysteries to me is why youtube doesn't allow direct downloading of their videos without having to use some third-party downloading utility. That's a debate for another day though. Almost all of these many programs, as I have found, install some very frustrating-to-remove advertising bloatware and other useless programs and undesireable crap that makes you regret you even downloaded the damn software in the first place. I had one I was using a while ago but I either forgot the name of it or found so many other programs with similar names and logos that when I looked on download.com to re-download it, I couldn't pick it out of the morass of other programs. This one program did the job just fine, lacked a few features in the free version which I could live without, and didn't spray useless adware all over my system. Can anyone recommend a good youtube video downloader program for me? I'm a windows user. Thanks.

Because in 99.999% of the cases YouYube doesn't own the copyright on the videos they host.
