2010 WBW Fantasy Baseball League

Seeing as pitchers and catchers are reporting for Spring Training now, it's about that time again.


Although SoCal typically runs these things, I don't know what his status is going to be this year, since he seems to have retired from WBW or some such nonsensical thing, so I figured I might as well take the reins here.

The winner of this year's WBW Fantasy Baseball League will receive either a bunch of free WBW credits, or a month Sponsorship or some such prize. (I have to work that out with the boff, but I'm pretty sure they'll be amenable to the idea)

Might as well play; it don't cost nothin'.

The rules are basically these:

1. Remain an active participant. All GMs who are deemed inactive will have their team locked with all players on the bench, so as not to provide any active participant any unfair advantage.

2. The end.

And I'll ask if anyone has any opinions on the settings before I finalize them. (They're not final now...we have about a month or so to sign up)

I'm fine with how they are. Pretty much the same as every other year.

I changed the password to 'wbw' to see if that makes it easier for the people who've had trouble signing up to do so.

I would sign up, but then like... I'd never do anything. And my team would get locked.

Why do we do this with baseball and not football? Do we have something against good sports?

We do do it with football too (handegg to you euros)

It's just that socal used to run them, and he wasn't a mod (and when he was, he wasn't a news mod) and thus they didn't make the front page.

We'll try to make it a seasonal tournament, so long as there is interest.

I couldn't play anyway my wife doesn't know about the site and so the draft would fuck things up unless it was like the middle of a weekday but then that would fuck everyone else up.

I'm in again for the third year, maybe this year I can actually do well in a snake draft (auction drafts FTW).

I was actually going through, linking our league to the last WBW leagues, and, as it turns out, I suck.

I've finally had a look at the league settings/scoring.

I see we play head to head for a week at a time, which is how I've always played. I'm not positive how we score in this league though. I have always played a single is worth 1 point, double is 2 points ... etc. etc. Then we add our totals at the end of the week, whoever has the most, wins the week.

I think I remember reading that it is categories we are playing. Is that right?

If so, there are 16 categories that I see ... so a score for a week would be 9 - 7, or 10 -6?

What if it is 8 -8, what's the tie-breaker?

Our starters are 1b, 2b, 3b, ss, c, of, of, of, util, sp, sp, rp, rp, p, p, p. The p's are any type of pitcher?

Any reserve spots?

Yeah the P is for any type of pitcher. There are 5 bench spots and 1 disabled list spot.
Yeah you have the scoring right except each category is counted as a win or loss for the week. There is no tie breaker for the week. Hope I explained that right.
